Yes, a stock 370Z is capable of running high 12's. I have driven the auto and the manual, and they are both quicker than the HR, with similar miles.
It's up to the driver and the conditions, to get it done.

Sounds good, I would love to see some 370z runs, and see wstar's car run.

I think you should be fine with only a couple of runs, also depends on the time between each run.

Agreed, we'll normally run one then wait 20 to 30 minutes before the next. Usually Friday nights (open street) aren't to busy and you only have to wait in line for <15 minutes.

Actually I'm gonna sneak out there (HRP) this friday (tomorrow) assuming nothing changes between now and then. It happens to be a good friday for me to have time to run out there anyways.

Good luck guys. The 370z should be hitting 12s stock with a good driver. But I will say SAR in San Antonio sucks! Went there last night, and had no traction, terrible 60 fts, best timeslip I got was a 13.8 at 102. But best trap was 104. I just spun and spun no matter what rpm I launched at. Another 350z with the HR did 14.4s with slicks and I was on street tires. A 370z was there also, 6mt, runnning 14.0s. I think he got a 13.9 finally close to the end of the night, his traps were 104~ area as well.
The track prep was terrible, we had cars that should be in the 13s running 14s.

Ugh. All these bench racers...
I don't see a 370z breaking into the 12's without some mods and a set of small diameter drag radials. My last car was a c6 vette that would just beat the piss put of my 370z and I only got it to run 12.8 on RE050A's. Show me your time slips! In the mean time, I'm not going to spend the money to go run it because I know I would still be turning 13's. :-( |

I think my launches were subpar, and my shifts were a little late just due to me being distracted by the whole experience for the first time. I'm planning to go back soon on a night where I can get the car prepped and get several runs in to learn the launch, and I expect the time to drop significantly. We'll see how it goes. I can't say for sure that 12's are possible, but they certainly seem within reach. |

It's the same thing people said about the HR 350Zs... "oh lawd, they won't hit low 13's... no f'n wai gai". Look what happened. And we already got an AUTO 370Z that hit a damn 13.1. I put money on it that the 370Z will dip into the 12's with nothing more than tire pressure changes and a good driver.

The fastest time I have seen posted for a 370z with no modifications is 13.36 seconds and the fastest time that I have seen for any 370z at any level of modification is 13.21 seconds from our own "ZforMe", but his DA calculation was -565, which is going to produce a very fast time. So even with mods and very favorable track conditions, the 370z is only hitting 13.2 second quarter mile times. That is why I said I think it's going to take a set of drag radials to get into the 12's. If you disagree, prove me wrong. Last edited by Phimosis; 05-30-2009 at 05:19 AM. |
