Read this if your planning to go to Island Drags
Went to Island Drags today. Wanted to see if traction has gotten better than almost 2 years when I was there last. Didn't get a chance. They told me that they are enforcing a NHRA rule for everyone, that if you have after market wheels, your studs have to stick out of your wheels up to 1/2 " out. I've raced at Atco, Raceway P. Lebanon, W. Palm without a problem, so I wasn't aware of such a rule. Waisted gas/tolls & a half a day. So if you want to race at Island Drags, & have other wheels beside stock, better get longer studs!

good info!
but this has always been true, with the extended studs. all the other tracks should abide by nhra rules , but they dont. It how ever tech-in feels that day... |
Tough luck, Andre.
From what I've noticed, if you've got a mostly stock car (no nitrous, or forced induction), the tech usually doesn't give your car a second look. At Englishtown, they'll ask if you have any nitrous, turbos or superchargers and they never bothered to look under the hood. Here at PBIR, I bet I could drive in with a keg in the passenger seat and they won't notice. |
I don't think you're not missing much at Island Drags. I've always heard that Atco & Raceway park were the better tracks in NJ. I've even heard rumors that Atco is slightly downhill.... I doubt it though.
