Great times! Congratulation.
These guys that don't know how to drive will turn it around to a dyno chart game. There are people that claim 340h.p & do slower times.

Means nothing if their chart shows 500h.p but they can't even break 13's.

I don't know the gearing of an automatic trans. so I can't comment about getting new rear end gears.

Get better traction & you'll do 12.5's. At the rear, lighter/smaller wheels & drag radials should help a lot.

You're one of the very few that can go quick. "accelerating of a roll or feel by the pants means NOTHING!"

Just saw the video. You broke the tires in second gear. Getting drag radials & warming them up would make the car quicker & faster(mph

The car in the right lane was an eclipse or something with a huge turbo. his last run was 10.5 so he obviously had a problem with the car this run.

Hey Guys looking at taking the Z to the Drag strip for the first time and need your feedback...

My cars current setup is FI CBE, 25R Oil Cooler, AFE Drop-ins with Smooth Tube Intakes - Berk HFC (on the way) - 7at.

My question is I have my original 18x8" - 18X9" wheels and a nice lightweight set of 19x9" - 19x10.5" which actually weight the same as the 18" set.

Which set is better for the Strip?

If they both weigh the same and their heights are equal, then go with the set that has better tires.

Take the set with bigger rear tires. If you are rocking 245s on the 18s then forget it. Id go with the 19s and 275s (or bigger if you have bigger tires). And for all that are wondering... 325's do fit on the 19" sport rays. I had a friend add them to his 19s

Also, Ive noticed when I pull up to the tree on the drag strip, with the 7AT, you can mash the brake and accel to about 2500-3k without wheel spin and you will get a nice little launch. Try with traction on and off for varied times. I lowered my time by about .2-.4 seconds by this method. Good luck!

What do you suppose a stock 7AT would run with 325s launched as you describe above? Does stuffing that extra tire on the rays make the posterior squirrelly?

Not sure exactly, it could help with wheel spin or it could be a tad bit heavier and make times a little slower (if your cars stock).

325s on the 19s are kind of unnecessary if you aren't supercharged or turbo'd, but my friend has plans to turbo his.

My best time was a 13.28 with new 275s in the rear & thats almost completely stock in the summer, 98-105 degrees with oil temp at 220-230. I still had wheel spin issues in first gear, and into second

If you are in the right region, temps are good, tracks prepared, theres no reason why you couldn't do better with a little bit bigger tires!

That's pretty impressive.

I've noticed that temps in the 90s really seem to suck the torque out of the Z (more so than I expected). Now that it is cooling off in the mid Atlantic, I've also noticed lots more wheel spin in first and second with morning temps in the 50s.

Summer tires not happy.

Size isn't everything. I'd take a 245 drag radial over a 325 any day! Saying go bigger when you don't know the tires is nonsense.

if you watched my vid I only run it up to about 1700 rpm while standing on the brake. I figured I'd start spinning any higher. I'll have to try to launch it harder at about 2500 rpm. was worried that was a bit too much strain on the drivetrain but apparently not.

I agree with you..
I was simply assuming that he was running street tires. I rarely met people that run a completely stock car but buys drag radials to do his/her first Drag strip run in..

I thought you had to remove the brake fuse otherwise the engine computer would reduce power if it saw the gas and brake pedals pushed at the same time. Was that only on the 350Z or is it the same on the 370Z?

Not sure on that one. Others can chime in..
Mine certainly didn't reduce power though.
