Andre12031948,

I never ment to get you angry or start an argument, that post just seemed odd to me. Also FYI I ran a 12.9 with exhaust only I just never have had a good weather day to go along with my swing shift work to properly test out the new mods and new tires.

Also you do realize those guys are running 4.08 gears along with all of their NA mods plus one on DR's

THANKS, don't give it a thought.
Gears make a big difference.
Good drag tires, 4.08 gears, test pipes & a matching (up-rev) tune will get most z's under 12.8. Must know how to power shift.

If you tell me what gear & RPM you cross the 1/4 mile finish line, and what RPM do you or the car shifts at. I'll tell you how to not only get into the 12's but go 12.8's.

I don't remember exactly, I should probably pay more attention to it next time. It's either at the top of 4th or right after I shift into 5th.

Default Give it time.

The same reason the 370Z hasn't been as quick as the 350Z is the same reason the G37 isn't as quick as the G35, or a 2010 STI isn't as quick as a 2004 STI: The cars are relatively new, and most newer owners go VERY carefully on mods and track time.

These cars are purchased new for reasons other than track time, and the development of parts and combinations that work takes time.

There is a G35 that's gone tens. (So have a bunch of 350Z's) I'm the absolute quickest G37 (that I have seen posted anywhere), and I'm almost .5 tenths slower.

Even bolt on N/A mods are lesser in numbers.

Andre, I'm scratching my head, too, but this will take some years before the 370 will catch up to the proven 350. What's your experience and abilities with your Z?

Thanks.

Coop

1) If you're shifting into 5th before the finish line, you are losing at least a 1/10th! Never go into 5th!
2) Find out if shifts are quicker when driver shifts or when the car does the shifting(your shop/auto trans people). Use the quicker shifting method!
3) Factory nissan power peek is at 7,000 rpm. Car should shift/be shifted 300 to 500 rpm ABOVE H.P. peek. Example 7300 to 7500 rpm. The reason for that is that after every shift, the rpm drops. You DON'T want it to drop too low! Keeping the peek h.p. in the middle produces best results! As a bonus, it also keeps the car from going into 5th.
4) I don't know all your mods, but if you have after market exhaust plus other mods, your H.P. peek is no longer at 7000 rpm. It could be 7300 to 7500 rpm range. Now you or your shop should correct/change the shifting into the 7500 to 7800 rpm range.

Now you'll be doing 12.8 in the 1/4 mile. I would suggest Cecil drags for reasons best not mentioned

If you tell me what performance mods you have, I'll tell you just 2 additions/changes that should get you into the 12.6 range.

First I'd like to congratulate you on your very quick times, especially with a car that is heavier than a Z.

As far as an answer to your question. I don't want people getting sick from my bragging so please go to the sister forum "my350z.com" Drag section, click top 25 350z 1/4 mile times, then go down to bolt-ons 07/08 vq35hr list & you'll see my name.
I can also suggest page 127 posts 2523 & 2524(videos). Page 130 post 2593 & page 131 post 2611. Look at 60' times.

All with factory stock intakes, y pipe, mid-pipe(resonator delete) & STOCK muffler. I believe the car makes apx 280H.P.
Thanks for asking.

1) So it would be better to go all the way to redline in 4th and then cross the finish instead of shifting into 5th?
2) Shifts are quicker when I shift myself which is what I always do.
3) My mods are in my sig. Berk CBE, Stillen G3 CAI, CNT HFCs. I'll probably be getting my car Uprev tuned, but that will be more towards the end of the year. Don't have money for it right now. When I do get it tuned, I can have them adjust the shifting of the 7AT to make it a little more aggressive as well as raising the redline.

My best times will probably come when the tracks open up next spring. I should have my car tuned and a set off RE-11's instead of these all season tires. Thanks for the advice

According to Nissan the 332 hp is at 7000 rpm then h.p. starts falling. The 7500 redline is just a setting to protect the engine from damage from over reving. My point was that shifting above the peek h.p.(closer to or at redline) will produce better ET's/times. I stated the reasons why.

However you are correct, a tune(with mods) will raise the h.p. & it will do so at a higher rpm. The shop will also raise the redline so you can take advantage of the extra power.

The 2 things I was going to suggest are exactly what you are planning to do, Osires Uprev tune & tires for better traction (find out how to heat them(fuse). With an automatic you should be doing 1.8/1.9 60'. 2.20 60' is for 14-15 seconds cars
Good luck
Oh yes, have the shop raise the redline & they would know more about making the auto trans work at its best.

Went to the track back at the end of april . Mods are M370 intake manifold, stillen gen 3 intake, and I ran with the hypertech stillen gen 3 tune. I ran the car 6 times. 3 times on the hypertech, followed by 3 times on the stock tune. The hypertech tune produced my fastest run of the day, but i only had two runs with perfect traction, and they were both on the hypertech tune. As the sun went down behind the tower the track conditions got bad. best hypertech run - 12.856 at 106.25 1.944 60 best stock tune run - 13.205 at 105.82 2.071 60 . Trap speeds were within .5 mph. I returned the hypertech programmer within the 30 day window as the gains were minimal.

Awesome times man! What tires were you running and what rpm were you launching at with the 7AT? I'm asking because I've never gotten 60' times that good and it would definitely help me out if I could.
