Tire chunk missing from drifting. Safe to drive?

I went to a empty lot and tried getting sideways for 2 hours. I inspected the tires and noticed a chunk of rubber missing from the rear left tire. The

Default Tire chunk missing from drifting. Safe to drive?

I went to a empty lot and tried getting sideways for 2 hours. I inspected the tires and noticed a chunk of rubber missing from the rear left tire. The spot where the rubber missing feels like soft fur. Should I be playing it safe and drive slow or can I still drive normally? It's not a big spot and I don't feel anything while driving, but its still noticeable.

i'm confident i got these scraps on a few of my rims from tapping the cones. how can i get such bad scraps from cones? it makes no sense to me unless these rims are just soft

The "soft fur" is the exposed belt(s) in the tire. Most tire guys would consider a tire with any belts exposed as non-viable and possibly dangerous.

Not worth the risk of a blowout and damaging the car or losing control and hurting someone else. Get the spare on and replace it

The tire will still be safer than the spare, but yes it needs to be replaced ASAP.

It's probably not as bad as it looks (which is pretty bad), but considering the way you drive and the result of a blow out under those circumstances it is not worth the risk.

I don't think those scrapes were from cones, usually cones leave a black mark behind that can be rubbed off. I've hit more than my fair share

ya i wondered about the scrapes on the spokes cause i figure rubber cones really cant make that much of damage to metal. but i'm 100% i didn't curb them parking or driving. plus the scrapes are roughly 6-8" off the ground.
