Found a regular Auto Insurance policy that cover's HPDE's
I found one company that does not exclude HPDE's under their normal auto insurance policy, Liberty Mutual.
The closest thing they have is this exclusion: “4. Any vehicle, located inside a facility designed for racing, for the purpose of: a. Competing in; or b. Practicing or preparing for; any prearranged or organized racing or speed contest. “ The part that saves this from excluding even HPDE's is the part that says "for the purpose of". The only part I thought was questionable was the "practicing or preparing for a race" part, but by that they mean something like pre-race qualifying or practice sessions. I had them confirm this and that specifically HPDE's would be covered (although you might want to get this in writing). I decided not to go with them, since the same coverage I normally get cost over double compared to my rate at Allstate ($2500 vs $1050 for 1 year). Although if I did do something like 8-10 events a year, I think I'd be able to justify it. Decided to go with OnTrackInsurance.com, $208 for $37k of coverage @ Sebring for 2 days. They were about $10 more than Lockton Affinity, but their deductible is only 5% instead of 10% at Lockton. Anyway, just thought I'd share. My first event I didn't bother getting insurance, but I'm kind of paranoid and I'd rather be safe than sorry. Especially with all the other costs that come into going to an HPDE, $200 for insurance is a drop in the bucket.

I'd get them to say in writing they cover it before you trust coverage. Suspect there are no regular insurance companies who cover HPDE.

I did find many other people posting (on other forums) that Liberty Mutual does in fact cover HPDE's. That was what led me to look into it myself. Definitely get it in writing though.

hmmm.
My car is paid off and I only carry liability for the odd times I drive it on the street. I might have to look into this though. I already paid for one crash repair, didn't even try to talk to the insurance on it, and I just figure next time I crash, my hobby is over and I (hopefully) walk away. This might be a nice option though.

Mike, why take such a chance on completely losing a hobby that you are clearly into so much? Track days are expensive already (and only getting more expensive, f'ing tires!), the cost for HPDE insurance really isn't too costly of an addition.

I just got the quote and am seriously considering it. It would cost me about 100 more per month than my current policy at USAA, if I had full coverage on the car with USAA also. Thats really not bad at all. I need to call them and see if their Georgia policies also cover HPDE, as its different by state.
USAA with the 370 full coverage and other cars =2800 LM = 3800

Yeah, that's not too bad, probably worth it if you do more than a couple HPDE's a year. Email them directly and ask for their exclusions list. They should send you a PDF with the policy info, and you can go from there.

You might also be able to argue to cover autox's since most of them are not held at "facilities designed for racing"

I definitely don't think there is anything even close to excluding autox in their exclusions list. Then again, are there ever any incidents in autox?

The problem is you'll switch to LM and then they'll close the loophole in their next policy update.
Lockton seems reputable from reviews. Has anyone used Ontrackinsurance or know how long they've been around?

OnTrackInsurance seems to of been around since at least 2006 from the brief amount of searching I did. I haven't read any complaints for them or Lockton. The lower deductible made the decision easier for me.

The 208 you pay for your track coverage, is that a one time fee ?

I wish. That's the fee for a single event. Only good thing is the price is the same no matter how many days the event is. From here on out I'll always be doing the entire weekend instead of single days.

I just filled out an online quote for ontrackinsurance. Do I have to pay now, or do they send me something back via email before I make my payment? I only got a copy of the application emailed back to me without instructions.
