First time going to a drag strip.

So tommorow I am going to my first ever drag strip. though its pretty much just the straight at the Zolder race track as in belgium drag racing doesn't exist pretty much.

So I am looking at tips and hints from the american member with their amazing drag strips EVERYWHERE. :roflpuke2:

So...you know that I dont make a complete fool out of myself.

7AT + fast intentions CBE+LTH and stillen Gen 3 CAI.

I will probably get raped. there were american cars doing wheelies last year and civics raping 700HP R34s.

You will be fine, here is a few tips.

Avoide the water box just spin your tires to remove any rocks and what not when you stage. Then I would say launch around 3k since you have the auto that should get you out of the box quick, but also depends on the track prep if its slippery you might have to roll out at around 1500rpms.

Let us know if you need anymore info!

You can leave your knives at home, as you don't have to cut any corners... :p

Sorry couldn't resist... J/k

Yeah, pretty much all you need to know. Not much to it in a low powered auto car.

went testing near my home.

VDC off just makes the tires spin.

holding the revs at 1500ish and releasing makes the tires spin more than just going from idle.

Videos will be taken.

Read that topic. I was wondering about the tire pressure does it really matter that much?

rear tire preasure makes a big difference.
take them down to 26.5 LBs.
and remember to fill them up when you go home.
Do you have a good helmet ?
very important

be safe and take your time
Once you launch and floor it do not lift your foot of the acelerator, keepit floored even when you change gears. Shift at 7000 to 7100 rpm and you will not hit the limiter.
Do not lift till you go throught the 2nd trap line at the finish line.
Use the MM its way faster than using "D"

13.3 to 13.4 is a good time for you on your first time.
It takes a while to go faster.

Have fun , do not worry what is beside you in the next lane, be save and come home with your car intact

lol just read that they allow a helmet but that you don't HAVE to wear one.

I have kept on practising. I noticed that its best to shift at 7200ish since any higher and a little mistake means engine cutting power.

I am going now. wish me luck.

tookrzy4u192 04-17-2011 02:20 AM

Good luck and have fun. If you're going for test and tune and just want to get some practice, don't worry about the "reaction time", just focus on the launch.

Z eliminator 04-17-2011 07:14 AM

akways wear a helmet. If there is an accident and the guy beside you hits you and drives you into the guard rail its going to hurt. You will trap at last over 100 mph.
" how much is your head worth "
300 to 400 dollars for a 2011 shnell aproved helmet is cheap insurance to protect your brain form a concusion or terrible injury.

saftey comes first. the car can be fixed you head ??????

Good luck

I found it was best to do it with VDC off and launching at 1500 rpm. I think the best launching rpm depends more on the track conditions though. The grippier the track, the higher the rpm you can launch at.

Vegitto-kun 04-17-2011 04:25 PM

I am bad.

I suck so badly.

seriously :roflpuke2:

I was only able to go two times.

first time was against a new megane RS. messed up the launch and lost. though I doubt he was original. he had J-hook brake rotors and he sounded way more loud than normal. so I think he got exhaust/intake/tune/boost.

but I mostly blame a shitty launch + VDC.

second time I was up against a opel corsa I think :roflpuke2:. I kicked its *** though.

Megane RS = VDC on
opel= VDC Off

drag racing on a actual professional race track = VDC off.

My friend sucks at recording. I just hope somebody else recorded it.
