How bad will I get spanked? A fun bench racer debate.
So a friend is putting together a day to rent the local dragstrip for a benefit. He plans to setting up a bracket tourney style, pitting similar rival local cars against each other.
To cut to the chase, there is a local 350z with a single turbo slapped in her that he wants to pit my car against for the fun show factor of 350 vs 370. Now of course we don't know enough facts here to know what he will run, but we do know that my car is still fairly close to stock (catback and some 315 wide tires). So for fun, I'm curious what some of you that have came from the 350 might have to say on paper equal skilled drivers, how destroyed am I going to get? Can I possibly hold my own if I throw on all NA mods? Again this is a fun conversational topic only. Let's bench race. |

Ive seen turbo 350s run in the 13s and I have seen them run in the 11s.... You will get walked up top unless he is a terrible shifter and a terrible launcher and you are an amazing driver...
unless you were jnaut than I would say the race would be close

drag slicks
I'm going to search for the episode
i recall a show where they modded a Z to drag race a small block chevy they had like $1500 to spend and they changed rear end gear and added a cold air "ice box" they cut over a second off the e.t. close to stock you are in trouble, but lighten the load as much as you can remember gasoline is heavy too ...found it ESPN show called Pipes TV the 350 Z was up against a cop car Caprice... Rear end was a huge change on my wrx, I've been considering it for the Z. I've searched some info on here but it's very unclear. Someone that's done the gears should parse all the knowledge and put it in a sticky.

If you want to do straight line though then the gears would be more than welcome if you don't make a lot more power. |
