rising oil prices and a weak USD will do that. but the closed factories in japan are the straw that broke this camel's back. yokohama, toyo, bridgestone and dunlop/falken consumers will feel the impact the hardest (i've personally witnessed dunlop raise the prices twice in the last year on the size i'd already bought, even before the tsunami - $173/tire in 3/10 for 245/45R18, now $217), but korean manufacturers (kumho/hankook) are suffering through their own financial trials and tribulations too.

I received my new tires today, they were built in the 32nd week of 2010. It was just sitting in a warehouse. The price is a joke. They keep raping us and we seem to go back for it because we have no other option

i was thinking of getting some new tires for my 300zx. i'm on 8.5 and 9.5 18" wheels. i have 245/40/18 and 275/35/18 but seems like the RE-11's don't come in that size. i'm looking for something with some really good grip, what else should i look at for that size along the lines of RE-11?

Not sure what size 300ZX runs, but the stagger is kinda retarded.

I got the right side installed, decided to do all four. The 285 turns out to be only slightly wider than the 265, but I can see it helpful in getting rid of some of that plow. I will see how they work this weekend, hopefully it will make the car fun again.

285 from far in the front

The old 265 and 285, you can see the wear on the 265. The outside was completely gone, I could have squeezed another month out of it I think.

Here are some old 285/30/18 slicks I am selling, $200 bucks anyone?

Anyone need some 225/50/17 BFG R1, $120 for both, they came off my Prius

This was the old 265 on the front rim

Good luck but I can't see the 285 giving much more if any grip on a 9 inch rim.

I just drove it around a small tight course today. While the plow is still there, but it is nowhere close to what I experienced last week on the 265 front tires. It might have to do with the fact that the front tires are new now, but I just like the way it drove as the car turned in quicker and bit the pavement much harder than it did. I can actually break the rear loose going around a turn without using the gas pedal. I will find out exactly how much I am gaining in tomorrow's event, but I expect a few tenths quicker than last year.

We don't run R comps for the stock classes in our local clubs, that's why I stuck to these tires.

If you want to run 285's up front you really need wider wheels... Those sidewalls are going to be rolling over all the time now. They look like they belong on a fwd drag car.
