Congrats Shahid! It was perfect weather out yesterday and everyone was amazed how well his car launched at the track. I was impressed with the 60ft times especially since it was his first time at the track! For comparison, I ran my Z too which is a 6 speed with Gen3 intakes and I was only able to run a 13.2 @ 106.5mph with a 1.9 60ft time. I did hit the limiter and went through the traps in 3rd instead of 4th but that would have at best given me just a tenth I think. Shahid's car is quick for a factory car and there was no tire pressure adjustment or weight reduction. We got off Rt. 95 North after driving for a few hours with the Mid Atlantic Group, he paid his fee, got right in line, received a 1 minute brief on the staging points(total time from entering gate to his run was less than 5 minutes) and he ran a great time!

I took a look at my time slip and compared the times to see where his car was faster than mine. We were dead even to the 330ft mark but his car is really strong between the 330 and the 1/8th mile. My 1/8 time was 8.580 @ 82.65mph. I had what I felt was a great run except for hitting the limiter at the top of 3rd but he had me by quite a bit at the 8th mile which was before that happened.
I can't wait to see what happens if he lets some air out of the tires and runs with a cool engine. |

Not too sure about the redline. The ECU adjusts to how your driving and I think It adjusts the shift points for full auto mode based on that. I've seen it shift around 3k rpm under calm driving and higher rpm under spirited driving. Paddle shifters are definitely quicker though.

when you floor an AT it will go up to redline bounce off the limiter and then shift if you don't adjust your throttle. you can make an AT shift by letting up off the gas briefly too but its slower than the paddles. By using the paddle shifters you are removing some of the ecu processing and therefore able to shift faster (I'm pulling that out of my arse but it sounds reasonable to me). I'm really impressed he got a 12.9 stock, when I went, stock, I got a 13.3 but it was in the heat of the summer 90+ degress with 90%+ humidity. I can't imagine cooler weather could make nearly a half second difference for me.

Haha, thanks. I think I need to replace my front tires at some point, they're pretty worn out. I've been thinking a little bit about what kind of tires to replace them with. A quick look at tire rack shows that the oem tires are the most expensive for this size. Might go with some Potenza's. Will probably wait as long as I can to replace the tires though.

As far as tires go, I'm trying to get some that are relatively cheap for now since I'm kind of broke. Not too worried about getting drag radials since I won't be hitting the strip that much. I would much rather put that money towards getting some bolt ons. I really just went to see what could do and maybe get a baseline for my future mods.
