1/8 Time

Hey Guys I have a question! I took my Z to the strip "1/8" last night for the first time and was kind of disappointed :shakes head: I ran an 8.80 "that was my best time"! I could not hook up and tires are not the problem!!! :( It was 53 outside so I don’t know if that was to cold or what? Any ideas for running a better time? Mods? What? :happydance:

Twin turbo set up will fix your time issue.

Please post the details of the entire time slip. Its hard to tell where you could improve only knowing the ET.

FWIW, 8.8 is still fairly quick in the 1/8... that's on its way to a low-mid 13 second run in the 1/4.

I went to the drag strip for the 1st time today, but it was a 1/4 mile. Based on my results, when I got an 1/8 mile time of 8.8xx my 1/4 mile time was 13.4xx. It's not bad. I did 4 runs, all with VDC off and in manual mode (paddle shifters). I believe this is the best way to do it for an auto. Leaving VDC on isn't going to give you any benefit for a drag race and shifting with paddles is definitely quicker than normal auto mode. You did pretty good, but I hope you get the time you're aiming for next time

the quickest cars are specialists

your Z can do more than 1 trick

and Mustang is right,

you're looking at low 13sec 1/4 times which is pretty quick

FWIW i run 7.9xx 8th mile :)
seriously 8.8 i descent, i would suggest lowering the rear tire pressure to around 25psi, pull out the brake light fuse. This allows you to do a little burn out. hold revs around 4k ish release clutch aggressively. Yes i power shift

How do you run 7.9**??? And what does brake light fuse have to do with anything???? :)

b1adesofcha0s 03-13-2011 12:27 AM

Pulling the brake light fuse fully deactivates the VDC, which can cut power upon wheel spin I believe. The 7.9xx can be chalked up to some mods and superb driver skill

BTW, what is power shifting and can it be applied to the 7AT?
