So, I dropped Comprehensive and Collision coverage today

I've got no coverage at the track anyways, and since I got the CR-Z, I've decided to pretty much track only the car now. Its paid off, been wrecked at VIR requiring a new core support, bumper, fender and door, and then I hit a deer requiring fixing the bumper and fender, so I really couldn't ethically sell it to someone.

Going to the Z1 meet on the 19th and Zdayz, and then I think I am going to gut it. Its a huge step, but I think I'm ready to take it.

Nice to hear, how far you planning to go with this car?

Jeffblue 03-07-2011 07:41 PM

so do you just trailer it to the track?

at the moment, sometimes. it depends how far and how lazy I feel. Road Atlanta this weekend I didn't, because it was rainy and I was on street tires, plus its only 30 miles from my house. Normally I do though. Might even sell my open trailer and get an enclosed one so I can store the car in it.

just for driving schools and lapping days, but setup similar to Travis, stripped with a cage if I do have the guts to go through with it.

FuszNissan 03-07-2011 08:15 PM

Nice, custom cage?

kkruel55 03-07-2011 08:16 PM

If I go ahead with gutting, then yes. Unfortunately, this will probably be the last year I have a Nissan Z at Zdayz. At least I have a Honda Z and a BMW Z that I can still bring!

You crazy bastid! I'd rather drive a Z on the streets, but at least the track is a respectable place for the Z.

Nice Mike! If you get it done in time, make sure to trailer it up to Road America in October. :D

Yikes, it makes me want to retire from track days sometimes. I had a spin in my 350 due to a brake line coming off, I came 10 feet from hitting the wall. I was never the same after that incident. Heck, that was one of the big reason I sold the car as I lost full confidence in it.

yeah, it wasn't fun. thats one of the reasons I want to cage it and get a hans device.

JB, I'd love to get up there again, but damn, thats a lot of gas to trailer it 1800 miles round trip.
