So, I dropped Comprehensive and Collision coverage today

Pretty cool Mike. If it's a track car, gutting it is definitely something I'd consider. You don't even have to sell off the parts...just tuck them away if you ever

Pretty cool Mike. If it's a track car, gutting it is definitely something I'd consider. You don't even have to sell off the parts...just tuck them away if you ever want to go back (hard to do if you cage it thought). Otherwise, those parts will get you some nice cash to defer the caging costs.

I'd like dibs on the center plastic molding..the piece that incorporates the middle cup holder, seat heater buttons, and armrest cubby. Managed to scratch mine up a bit.

This is slippery slope though. Single straight pipe race exhaust? Fuel cell from AM Performance? Brake ducting galore?

Nope... if you wreck at the track, your insurance (Nationwide/Allstate/Geico/General/fakEsurance/etc..) ain't gonna be worth a dime to you.

I really only know two guys whose insurance does cover their track days: they call it a Trust Fund and I call them Trust Fund Babies. Very nice guys which is quite uncommon, but no clue what it can be like for those that like to have some occasional fun in their DDs.

Never done it, but you can get track insurance when you go out.

I've heard of people with USAA getting covered while at a HPDE event, but it's only a matter of time before there fine print catches up with the rest. You used to be able to cover your *** based on the fact that it was a Drivers Education event but they all now pretty much exclude you as soon as your wheels touch the track surface.

Agreed value track insurance is the way to go if you are concerned about a total loss. SCDA and some others let you sign up for it right at the track.

HPDE Insurance Program

you play you pay. My track accident cost me about 3500, and I got the parts at cost.

Chris is right, you can buy an agreed upon track insurance package, but it can be pricey. USAA specifically does not cover track damage in their fine print now, although, when I first started doing this in 2004, they gave me a driving instruction discount for it. I left them for a while for Progressive, but then they also started specifically excluding it, so I went back.

Pretty much almost everyone excludes track events ever since a Carrera GT crashed into a Ferrari in Cali and someone died a few years back.

I'll let you know. Sharif says even a 4 point, once you properly mount it will take it out of contention for returning to street use, so I'll probably part everything.

i might want your trunk panels if you end up getting rid of them. i have holes drilled in mine for accessing the coilovers but they aren't even, and it kind of annoys me
