Default Dissapointing Track Day

Guys, last night I took my Z to the drag strip and here is the story. I made 12 passes and my best time was a 14.11 @ 102 mph with a 2.3 60ft time (patetic!!). I have owned a mustang, rx-7 and a honda crx wich I drag raced all of them and my 60ft times were acceptable. I used to get 2.1's on the crx a FWD car. The point is I just simply could not get a good launch out of my car, it would either wheel hop,bog down or spin out. Someone needs to make a Z drag racing school or a inctructional video on how to launch this car. I sure I am not alone. Anyway thanks for reading my frustration. I need some tips from some of you that get sub 2.0 60ft times out of this car.

better than 2.3 can be had by rolling off the line very easily. What else is going on?

lower rear tire pressure to around 25psi , pull brake fuse(to do a burn out), hold revs to 3800 then release clutch agressively, this will net sub 2.0 60fts.

This brake fuse I assume it disables the ABS, also that night I had my tires at the recommended pressure 35PSI that might have been part of the problem besides the driver. My car is fast on the street (rolling starts) I just would have liked to run 13's.

It'll also depend on the track. Mine sprays it pretty wide, so I'm unable to line up far enough to totally get both tires onto the non-VHT surface. I was forced to granny it out of the hole using 1/2 throttle in first and easing into second to net low 14 second times. I'm quite a bit quicker on the street because I'm able to actually launch the car. Easily getting a 13.7 with 2.0 60 ft on my Vbox.

I think you have to adjust your tire's PSI and also you want to get a nice easly start.
You are definetly spinning out too much which is why you get 14's.o_O
I got 14's in my stock 350z back in the day lol...
GL, keep us posted with what changes you do with your new times!
Cheers!

its always in the high 70's, low 80's, perfect conditions really, along with being at sea level, his times should be outstanding, it seems he needs a little practice launching and crappy track conditions might be an issue as well.

disables abs so you can do a stand still burnout instead of a fake wheel hop tire cleaning

Im confused by this.

The track sprays water that you drive around. Usually VHT is sprayed at the tree before anyone can run. You want to be on the VHT as it promotes traction.

Not for normal street tires.
