Opinions on tire setup for the track
So I've got volk ce28n's 19x9.5f and 19x10.5r with a 22 offset all around. Im going to be buying some tires for an upcoming track event and was considering the nitto nt05s. So now my question is can I run a square tire setup on staggered sized wheels? I know a square setup is more ideal than being staggered to eliminate understeer. I can really only get the nittos in 245 and 275 for 19's. I can run the using the stock sport sizes which is what I have now, or was wondering if going 275 all around would be beneficial. What are your thoughts?

obviously, you won't be able to rotate them, but by going 275 all around, you will eliminate some understeer. I'm sure others will tell you to go with 305s in the rears, but mine handles great with 275s all around.

the stagger has benefits as well such as turn in response and lighter weight.
Personally I'd tweak out whatever understeer you may have in other ways, but everyone has their style. If you do get a track tire and go square I'd get the same size wheels all around for them. |
Everyone's car is different. Mine has 0 under steer and a good amount of over steer with 245/275 tires, 10k/8k spring rates, 37/35 psi tire pressure, full stiff front 4 clicks from full stiff rear BC BR strut settings, and -1.4F/-1.1R camber w/ 0 toe at all 4 corners.
All of these things and more play a role in the cars handling. If it were me with those wheels, I would go 275F/305R, but that is me based on my experience with my setup. |
I ran the Nitto NT01's in 275/315 on 10"/11" 18" rims. That stagger was just a little bit too much to be perfect but overall it did work pretty well. With the large rear and a dialed in suspension you can get on the power pretty early and use the extra rear grip to your advantage.
