Default What RPM do you launch at?

I just want to get a general consensus about the most "correct" or "best" rpm to launch at. I was practicing my launch earlier this morning and I found that even at 2k rpm, I was have super wheel spin. I tried launching again at 1.5k rpm and it seems to grip better, but still had wheel spin.

I also would like to know the proper way to launch. I shift to 1st, clutch all the way in, gas pedal steady at the desired rpm, and then when ready, I floor the gas pedal and release the clutch pedal. Am I doing it right?

I slip the clutch and gently modulate the gas. Slipping the clutch reduces shock to the tires and helps prevent traction loss. Modulating the gas helps prevent excessive wheel spin. Launching on street tires is a tough balance. Too much wheel spin and you go nowhere. Too little and you bog or experience wheel hop.

Agreed. Little bit of slip.

are you doing after driving a bit? its getting colder, and these summer tires aren't very grippy unless they are warmed up.

This is something I'll have to relearn. Launching a lightweight front wheel drive car is insanely easy. I hold it at 3k, dump the clutch and modulate the gas depending on surface type and off I go. Sounds like much more a of challenge with the Z.
