Another kind of race rubber, either a really good or bad idea

I got these tires for cheap. Size is 285/30/18 on my 18x9.5 35mm offset. Let's hope they fit and work better than my RE11s, they were race take offs from Panoz. THe Pirelli Corsa Directionalizion is a rain race compound, wonder how they work in the dry. Anyone know?

Rain compounds are usually super super soft and work at much cooler temperatures than dry tires. Running those in the dry you are going to burn them up very very quickly and because they are overheating they won't grip very well.

I don't know the regulations for that class as far as tire compounds go, but usually most racing series rain tires are too soft for the dry, especially on a 3400 lb. street car. They will likely blister, chunk, and overheat very quickly. There is a chance thought that they are hard enough compound due to race regulations that they might be ok.

I just bolted them onto the car. I will drive them on the street and then dry it at an autox before I make a decision on dragging them to the track. I honestly don't even know if they will turn soft again, but its a $150 gamble I am trying
