370z on the Nürburgring?

anyone got times for a 370z on the Nürburgring?

spearfish25 10-08-2010 08:55 PM

7:32

wolf370z 10-10-2010 11:39 PM

6:32.

MC 10-11-2010 02:49 AM

nope but i would guess about 8:09-8:12ish if it had a really good oil cooler

blue660r01 10-11-2010 02:52 AM

4min

retiredmd 10-11-2010 06:52 AM

Curious!

Having driven "The Ring" twice (Euro E-36 M3 and 911 Turbo), just curious how previous posters estimated the Z's lap times?

To me it looks like they were smoking some really good shït and then hit random keys on the keyboard

m4a1mustang 10-11-2010 07:46 AM

I started by feeling sarcastic and jocular. I then recalled what would be an insanely fast lap time and proceeded to type "7:32".

Fact of the matter is that I've never seen a 370Z 'Ring lap time yet. Wish someone with true skill would get a Z out there and log a fast lap. Looking at Wiki, the Boxster S, Cayman S, and Z4 logged 8:09 to 8:17. The Z should be right around there in professional hands.

I find it bonkers that there is a European Nurburgring edition of the car, yet the car doesn't have an official lap time at the 'Ring.

flashburn 10-11-2010 10:57 AM

2 Minutes (To Midnight).

m4a1mustang 10-11-2010 10:58 AM

30 seconds (to mars).

Cell 10-11-2010 11:36 AM

With warp drive engines it can do it in 1/10th of a second.

spearfish25 10-11-2010 11:38 AM

I also guarantee that it can do it in MORE than 7:32.

m4a1mustang 10-11-2010 11:44 AM

All I know is, if it doesn't stay above 55 mph, it will explode.

Dnf

With a bone stock 370Z, my estimate is a big fat DNF.

Here are three possible (probable) outcomes:

1. The 370Z would go into limp home mode and get rear ended by Sabine Schmitz in a Ford Transit Van.

2. Going around a hard right sweeper fuel starvation would kick in and the 370Z would be towed off the track by a wrecker.

3. The brakes would go into ice mode right before the carousel and launch the 370Z into the surrounding countryside.

Or maybe some combination of the above:rolleyes:

I spit my water out all over my monitor. :bowrofl:

That's so sad but 100% true.

Red370 10-11-2010 02:26 PM

i'll be taking the 5.0 out on that bad boy around this time next year, i'll be living about 30 miles from it :)

im still on the ropes as to what suspension kit i'm going to go with, im definitely going to want fully adjustable coilovers and a camber kit, but yeah, im not taking it out w/o suspension and tires.

Well said.. :(

All kidding aside, the limp mode is probably the reason the Z hasn't been around that circuit going balls out.
on saturday after redlining 3 gears 2 consecutive times at at 85 degree weather, the oil temp shot up to 250. It was fvcking ridiculous.

Talk to Sam Strano he can get you all hooked up with the right setup. I think his most recommended setup is a spring and adjustible shock/strut package.

zellsexy 10-12-2010 01:47 PM

the 370z has a fuel starvation problem!? lol

spearfish25 10-12-2010 02:48 PM

I don't buy the oil cooler being the reason for no 'Ring time. Companies routinely 'trick out' their cars specifically for a good 'ring time. It's easy enough to throw an oil cooler in the car so they can complete a hot lap.

roplusbee 10-12-2010 04:42 PM

I am sure that they would use the "pre-production" setup to attack the "RING" if they were intent on doing so. Wish we could get that setup from the factory as an option or something. Would be nice, but so are fairy tales.............

That is true if it is the manufacturer testing their own car, but most magazines and 3rd party testers are not going to throw a oil cooler on their test car to do a lap. If it can not complete the cirtuit, too bad for the car hence no "official times".

They can borrow mine.
