EDIT... PLACEHOLDER TO COVER MODS TO TRAVISJB'S 370Z AND TRACK REVIEW... I PROMISE TO UPDATE THIS THREAD ONCE I GET A FEW MECHANICAL ISSUES RESOLVED !... FOR NOW IT IS ON HOLD... THANKS FOR YOUR PATIENCE !

Eventual mods list:
  • SPC adjustable rear camber arms care of sponsor THMotorsports !
  • Battery relocated to rear... despite my earlier posts, went with PC680
  • Stainless braided brake lines
  • Hawk HP+ pads
  • Fluids swapped... went with Pure Power and ATE brake fluid
  • Various weight removed - see my other thread
  • washer fluid reservoir delete ! it's big and heavy and located at the leading position of the vehicle - not a good place to carry weight... mine was removed
  • new cat-back exhaust, starting with muffler... eventually also test pipes in place of cats
  • others TBD

  • new cat-back exhaust... I haven't heard it yet, but it looks beefy and I'm expecting to see some power improvement... the real gains will come later, once I get the intake, test pipes / HFC to go with it ! i'll post dyno's as soon as they become available... for now, I'm putting the baseline dyno in the second post

  • Porsche GT3 seat added, along with custom kit/adapter
  • Hawk HP+ pads

1) I have my fingers crossed that your oil cooler has enough capacity to keep the temps under 260 degrees. Best of luck.
2) I will be getting a smaller washer fluid reservoir, maybe its something more ppl will also be interested in.
3) I know what you meant by cat-back, but that isn't a cat back. That is just a muffler. The canisters in front of it are resonators. The cats are in the heatshields further towards the front of the car. I know that you knew this and it was just a little mistake, but I had to clear that up a little.

How complicated was the battery relocation?

I must see pics of the seats!!

Went with the Hawks eh, let us know how those hold up on track.

Awesome awesome job Travis, way to take a step forward. I am starting my process as well. Start a thread in the members gallery too if you haven't already.

Also remember to get some lap times and video!!

travisjb 03-04-2009 11:31 PM

thanks for your notes...

will post lots more pics when i get them from the shop, including how the battery relo was done and details on the seat

more details on pads... check
track times... check
video.... we'll see... still haven't figured out how to mount the DSLR, perhaps I can get a friend to follow that has a camera.... that'd be better anyways, to see it from car behind...

more to come

I am really looking forward to hearing how the oil cooler does on the track. Thanks for posting all this info.

StackTrack 03-05-2009 06:34 AM

HP+ are great starter pads ... but with a car as heavy (relative to some other track cars) as the 370, they will be overworked if you're pushing hard.

Then again, if you're still on street tires, they probably match up just fine (grip vs. braking power) And the size of the 370s brakes will help too.

(How was that for an about-face?)

Nice work! Also in for pics of the seat and results of the oil cooler. :)

Hope everything ends up ok.

RCZ 03-07-2009 12:10 AM

That's not what I wanted to hear....

Sounds like one of your oil lines came loose...

I really really hope your motor isn't seized...

EDITED, unnecessary.

travisjb 03-07-2009 12:14 AM

thanks for your thoughts... they're a great shop- i'm sure it will all work out fine... will update soon

travisjb 03-07-2009 12:52 AM

just fyi re vivid... i got this email just now after dropping off the car late at night:

"Travis,

We went to the shop and pushed your car behind the gate and locked it up. I will see of we can look at it Saturday morning.

Matt"

Frick@DDM 03-07-2009 01:21 AM

Sorry to hear that! Make sure to tell them righty tighty, lefty loosy!
