Forged Performance - 1st place in NASA TTU (Road Atlanta - August 2010) - Pictures an

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share the news and coverage of the most recent NASA race at Road Atlanta. It was a hot weekend and the cars were fast out there! Sharif managed to pull off a 1:29 in the GT-R with old race tires, and track temps recorded at 115 degrees He got 2 first place finishes in TTU. Sharif even had some time out in the Forged Performance GT3 to play around in HPDE.

What a weekend! Thank you everybody who came out and showed us support!

See you at Sebring Red Line Time Attack this weekend!

Congrats. Sharif is a great driver. Can't wait to get some lessons from him. Did you guys have any video of the laps?

So those Scions have a wing in the front? FWD downforce?

Any more pictures of the white Nismo? I've seen pictures of it on the forum before. I think it's a gutted twin turbo. And, no, it's not stormcrow's TT white Nismo.

That car is so fast. Sharif looks like a master through the esses. What top speeds are you hitting, especially after turn 8?

Brazilbro 08-10-2010 08:48 PM

what did the TT 370 run?

117mph (data acquisition numbers) at the bottom of the esses. The little trick to being fast down the esses's us to use the left side curbing as the setup to 5. Notice how I drive right through that curb, while the Viper drove around it. I gobbled up another couple car lengths with that move. I am surprised more people don't do it, as it doesn't upset the chassis at all since it's the unloaded side and also gives you a much better braking side lane and setup for 5.

Max speed at 164mph on the back straight before braking for 10A. Turn in for 9 is around 155mph...initiating a turn at 155mph is always a butt puckering moment. :) All of these speeds vary by ambient temp. Sometimes higher, when it's cooler outside, and lower when it's hotter. Unlike a dyno, there are no correction factors for ambient conditions, as it relates to laptimes. :)

FYI: the 370Z TT is still in setup mode, so no full laptimes yet, in anger. Getting closer!

It's funny to me how you mention how to take the esses there at road atlanta. My dad used to race there many years ago and always knew that same little trick of tackling the curbing. So when we would go and watch sporting events there the only spot we'd sit was on the hill over looking the esses. He would preach to me how some would hit the esses a little off and how some would hit the side of the curbing to gain a little of position.

So thank you for sharing your info. Brought back some old memories. When I get back in the loop, be ready to give me some lessons?
