Thats what I heard anyway. Anyone wanna chime in on this?

pretty much right on, i only do it a little just to put some heat in the tires

True. If street tires are somewhat up to temperature....the water will evaporate quickly anyway (if you can't circle around the water box). I usually gave my street tires a quick spin to clean off the debris, and shake off excess water. Long burnouts will generally have a negative effect on street tires. Only the top tier street tires (star spec's, re-11's, AD08's, etc) handle high temps without getting excessively greasy. Of course those tires are sticky, but the sidewalls are way to stiff to be great straight line tires.

Went to the track tonight with Z elim. Very bad day for it haha very humid (you could see the dampness on the cars!) best time tonight was 13.2?? (he will have to tell you the exact)

The best was though a 13.303 with the AC on haha nice!

Good time however as I said not good weather and the track wasn't right... Every few runs they were out trying to get the track right but it just wasn't there tonight!

A crazy 2011 Shelby mustang that had a lot done to it (not sure what was done could only tell from the sound, NOT stock) ran a 12 flat. So I would say a 13.2 was a good time!

Tonight was more about the burnouts for Steve which worked out really well - pulled the fuse.

I have some pics and vids I will post up over the next few days!

13.23 @ 107 best pass of the night Temp was around 85 to 87 degrees. It was very humid. The 13.23 was the best pass, would have been better but the car lost tracksion at the 1/8 and 1100 ft distances on the track. The 2nd to 3rd shift was a heart stopper as when shifted gears it spun and wiggled the back of the car. It did the same thing on the 3rd to 4th gear change. (the track lost grip and a few people oiled the track down)
I can tell you what kills the 370 z Its the oil temp. 212 to 240 tonight, My car runs the best at 165 to 175.
The burn outs got better and the best one was in the MM mode shiftng manually. The ecu stll tried to cut the rpm. The car needs line lock.
Any ways I want to thank Sibze for coming out and helping me tonight.
The 550 mustang ran 12.0 so i do feel that the 370 Z held its own tonght out there.
On one pass i forgot to turn the AC off (cool runnings).
I also got beat my a cobalt. I had him and with 200 ft to go he blew by me

Nice try Z elim, moar power plz, loosing to cobalt's is embarrassing hah. Temp must really mess with our cars as there is some pretty good inconsistency even with the auto.. And our fastest N/A guy running half a second off his pace  why didnt i buy a turbo car again?

Z eliminator 07-15-2010 09:41 AM

I think that he sprayed the last 200 ft. Like he blew by me like i was standing still and My trap was 107 mph.
I also raced a guy with an older V8 camaro , he had slcks, skinneys on the front and did a wicked burn out, His car was nasty loud. we both ran the same tmes but i beat him by .235 at the finish line. I drove around him at 3/4 track and he could not catch me, it was a close race. It was my first win of the night. Nobodys car was fast that nght.

hah good stuff, i was need my morning coffee when i wrote that first reply.. Glad to hear you got a win over the moded V8! If you guys have any vids please do link them.

chuckd05 07-15-2010 12:36 PM

I have vids from my last time out, with some good runs.. but there is a car in the video that runs 7.4 and makes my car look like a JOKE!!! lol

Ill try to edit them and post me against a rouche that was a good race, came out good on camera too. I went 13.4 he went 13.6. that was on the 105 degree wednesday two weeks ago..

Z we should just wait for the fall, summer months will leave us disapointed...

Atleast you were able to do some what of a burnout.. makes out cars look manlier heading up to the line.. i hate the drive around water, little chirp to the line method , ha.

I am going to get an oil cooler asap... just dropped too much on rubber but in a week or two , my oil was up around 260 the last day I went to the track, and hit 270 on the way home even while driving 80 and under with just a little beating of the car. My buddies evo never got higher than 180 if my celcius calculations were right. Thats a big difference and thats on a car with a turbo making 350 whp 350 tq... My car was a pig that day, i hated it. I wonder what a 25 row would even do in those conditions..

chuckd05 07-15-2010 12:38 PM

rcz what tires are you going to run at the track ?

ill mail you my slicks if you cover shipping to and from , lol... i cant imagine trying to get traction on stock-type rubber with 450+ whp in this car!
