2010 National Z Convention!

Asphalt Ventures is proud to announce that we will be helping the 2010 National Z Convention run its track day on Sunday, August 1st at Nashville Super Speedway (road course.)

We're still working out the details on event format... but you can go ahead and register for the event from the convention website: Z Car Club Association - 40th Anniversary of the Z.** July 28 - August 1, 2010 in Nashville, TN

At some point (hopefully sooner rather than later) we'll be syncing the ZCon track day registrations onto MotorsportReg.com. Format will be a standard HPDE format... at least two instructed run groups based on experience level with one group for instructors and solo qualified drivers. This will be a high-speed event and safety inspections will be required. In-car instruction and classroom instruction will be provided w/entry. Each group should get at least four track sessions.

In addition, we will be including one or two "touring lights" groups. These groups will be for convertibles and roadsters, and will be formatted as follows:
  • Paced lapping (faster than parade laps, but not as fast as normal HPDE)
  • Helmets will be required
  • Instructors will be provided
  • "Leapfrog" system to rotate cars through the line and allow all cars in that group to rotate through the line from back to front
  • Touring lights attendees are encouraged to be there throughout the day and attend the classroom sessions. We can also arrange ride alongs during the hot lapping sessions

The normal HPDE cost is $150 w/ZCon registration ... Not sure yet what the cost for the Roadster group would be, but it would be significantly less than that. Details on how to register for the touring lights group will be forthcoming.

So please post here, or shoot me an email to stacy@asphaltventures.com if you have any questions

Thanks!!

OH! I almost forgot...

if you are a Nissan heritage race fan, you REALLY should try to make it out to this event... I'm being told there will be more than a handful of celebrity cars in attendance, and we will be running one or two "exhibition" sessions to show off these historic (and one brand new) beauties.

Hope to see you all out there!!!

I'm actually waiting on the instructor info from Todd Wagner... have you done other conventions? If so, you're probably on the list. If not, between myself and Settle, I'm sure we can "make an exception" ;)

This will be my first convention...finally. :) I've been to Nashville SS many times. Happy to help out.

There is a very good chance that Steve Millen will be lapping in the 300ZX TT that he took to a victory in the 1994 24 hours of Le Mans. I'm going to be there and we're looking at shipping our red 370 and we will have Steve take that on track as well if we can get that car out there.

Nice! I'd like to get him behind the wheel of the Forged Performance GT-R for some fun laps! :) He is a legend in my eyes. Are you planning on coming too Kyle?

I can't wait! My first track event since the mishap at VIR!!!!!

StackTrack 07-12-2010 06:49 PM

I'm just excited to be getting back to the track since March! Just "getting away" from the daily grind for a few days will be nice.

As far as I know, you can still sign up for the track day through the convention website (link in the OP)... but if you don't want to commit to the full event, you can register for the touring lights groups via this MotorsportReg link (this includes Roadsters!!):

MotorsportReg.com : Asphalt Ventures, LLC announces Nat'l Z Convention - Track Day (Sun 1, Aug 2010) info at Nashville Superspeedway, Lebanon, TN 37090 (4644)
(weird how the site parses all that info from the url)

Also, anyone wishing to instruct at the event (ahhem... Sharif! :hello:) needs to use the above link to go ahead and get registered.
