Took her to the 1/8 mile strip...

This was my first time taking the Z (Base Sport 7AT) to the local 1/8 mile drag strip. The first run was my best (ET: 8.2, MPH: 83.3, 60': 1.6).

Default Took her to the 1/8 mile strip...

This was my first time taking the Z (Base Sport 7AT) to the local 1/8 mile drag strip. The first run was my best (ET: 8.2, MPH: 83.3, 60': 1.6). It was harder to find traction as the night progressed. Reaction time on that run was terrible; it had been a while since I went to the track in my last car (FWD with 200hp - two very different machines so I was learning all over). Best reaction time tonight was 0.122, although my main focus was ET.

Had a great time running some friends in their Camaro SS and Genesis 3.8. I got a few runs in and was happy to see the oil temp stay at/below 220.

Just thought I'd share

EDIT: 370Z (LEFT) vs Genesis (RIGHT)

I have the stock Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires. They're not in the best shape either for their mileage, but that launch was smooth overall (r/t aside).

I'm dying to take it out to the 1/4 mile track but it's almost two hours away and they do test/tune on Wednesdays and some Fridays so it's hard to find the time.

As the night progressed, how did your car run? How did your friends do?

8.2 1/8 is good enough for 12's with good enough traps. i ran a couple 8.4@86 mph in my 2001 trans am and wound up running 13.0@107. with 2.0 60fts

id def like to see you get down in a 1/4 track that has a good prep. when i seen C&D or M/T i foget which that took a Z to 13.1@108 i figured 12's is possible under good conditions at a low altitude low DA track

Digi, I was averaging 8.5-8.6 the rest of the night. The Genesis 3.8 (6AT) did well with very low 9's. The Camaro SS (6MT) was running high 8's.

jtown, speaking of prep, this track sucked! They laid down some VHT before my last run and some street cars kept driving through the water box - I had to chirp the tires a tiny bit at times before going. I'm not saying I would've ran better than 8.2 (maybe with a new set of tires), but it would've been more consistent.

Scan the slips. 1.6 60' is slick tire territory. Fishy.

I attached a slip scan on the first post. In case captain obvious is on the forum, yes, I know my reaction time sucked on that run.

Like I was saying before, 1.6 60' is slick tire territory. I'm not saying anything bad about you... I just think something is fishy about the timing & scoring on that run.

My tires are close to looking like slicks! Haha.

No worries, man. It was a last minute thing so before I went out, I did a quick search and found several 8.3-8.4 ET's. I was surprised since that was my first run in a while. I wouldn't rule out a glitch, although I didn't hear anyone questioning their times. We'll see how it goes whenever my friends set up a trip to the 1/4 mile track in Palm Beach.
