No, that makes sense. I knew it had to be something as simple as that, it just wasn't comin' to me. 'Appreciate the info!

I won't dismiss the time/trap because I think, given perfect conditions, it might be possible. That run felt pretty damn close to perfect, especially in comparison to the others. I caught traction right away and shifted perfectly (fast fingers, TWSS). You guys have more experience than I do on the subject though so I'll just take the ET with a grain of salt.

My base line was 260.5 with a hot moter and 265 when the engine cooled down.
My 305 35 18 drag radials should be here this coming friday.
I took my 370 out for a little practice on the service roads and i can tell you that at 35 psig the tires just spin in 1st gear and slips through 2nd.
The car is a living terror.
When i ran the 12.8009 my preasure was 27 psig ( cold tires).
im hoping to run in the 12.5's or lower when i get the drag radials now that i have 320.1 rwhp (standard hp) or 310.1 SAE rwhp.

will be interesting to see Znator what imma call you from now on heh. does the 370z have TQ management in the ECU? i know my 2001 trans am did and i never had it reduced and it was cutting my power when i was launching with my E.T streets because of the grip i was getting off the line. not sure if the Z's have that or not? also dont forget to air up your front tires higher. less rolling resistance.

No offense, but either the timing equipment was malfunctioning or you lined up with your rear tires. Not possible with IRS, relative low hp, and worn street tires to pull 1.6.

Jason 04-13-2010 03:49 PM

And I don't mean to offend or suggest you have a reading disability but the possibility of a timer malfunction has already been discussed.

In response to your second comment, I actually got a 30' head start and asked a track employee to place their hand by the starting sensor. :shakes head:

I've seen it half a dozen times were someone lined up with their rear wheels.....It's actually only about a 10' by the way.

Edit...it should also be a red flag that your other passes were 1.9-2.0...Its not my intent to "hate" but you didn't pull a 1.6.

I don't really know how the track crew would let that fly, but anything's possible (not saying the OP lined up this way).

Well, I do go far more often than most....at least twice a month, but it happens. Usually when the starter has his head turned and one car stages while the other is still doing burnout, etc. It's rare, but happens.

I never claimed to have pulled a 1.6. If you read the thread, I've been open to all possibilities.

I didn't line up with my rear wheels... I was racing my friend. I think I would have noticed my car ahead of my buddy's to my right. I know it's not 30' - that was a separate sarcastic remark on my part. I thought you were trying to be a smart-***.

jtown82 04-13-2010 08:32 PM

i doubt he was lined up on his rear tires. most liekly just a timing issue. anyhow let the thread die now :P jason post again when you have went back with some new slips.

Jason 04-14-2010 12:20 AM

Agreed. I'm making a headrest mount so I hope to have a little video action as well.

jtown82 04-14-2010 01:18 AM

Yeah he did, here is mine: 8.28 s @ 85.88 mph & 12.74 s @ 109 mph on all-season summer radial tires. Here is my slip & video of his same ET. Remember, mine is the auto, base, lighter, faster 18" wheels, & my car is faster than all of yours under normal conditions by the extra mph & tick. I can confirm his 1/8th & 1/4 ET & vogue for his times, if he says they are true.

The auto grips the rears different & are godly; plus, I was the first on the prepped track, just watch & listen to the video...and that was vs. an SS with exhuast, ect.
