After 21 years of tracking a number of cars I've come to the belief that once I've taken the car out for an initial run I might as well start building a data set on what it is that I plan to use on a regular basis. I have way more experience on Hoosiers than anything else.
However, I do understand the views of Travis and RCZ. I'm sure that one would get a better understanding of what the car can do in a relatively stock form. After the switch the gap could be better gaged. On a side note, I was impressed with the stock tires. I plan to order my oil cooler parts in the next day or so and get busy on that front. Still trying to decided if I want to remote mount the oil filter and go with a Canton Meca unit. Of course the left front fender is a great place for a small Accusump. I'd like to make the NNJR PCA event at Mid-Ohio in early June. If not that I'll be at my clubs PCA event at Putnam in July. I might still be on the Stock tires by then if I don't step up the pace in my garage.

Had my first full track day at Miller Motorsports Park yesterday--had a blast! Terrible heat issues though, and outdoor temps only ranged from low 70s to low 90s throughout the day. We're at 4400 ft altitude, so air density is about 15% low here, and it's quite dry.
I kept the car 3/4 full to full, so no fuel starvation issues, but I had awful issues with the lack of an oil cooler. I went 1 1/2 hard laps and had already broke 280F. I was expecting to get a lot more out of it! Once I hit that soft limiter I immediately dialed it way back, typically going part instead of full throttle and shifting at 5500 RPM for the remainder of all four 20 minute sessions. I never hit the 290F mark, but even doing that I always hit 280 after several laps. Time for an oil change, and before next track day, time for an oil cooler. Oh, and by design, most of that 40lb stereo in my sig comes out in about 2 minutes, so it sat by the side of the track with my spare tire |
