Default 14.1@103mph...why?

I am new to the thread, just bought a 370 about a month ago. The car has 1000 miles on it and I decided to head to the track to see what I can run. I have had previous track experience. I used to have Ford Probe GT and a 07 Eclipse GT that I have taken to the track. The 370z is bone stock and I was hoping to run mid 13's. I could not get a decent launch the whole nighy and the best time I ran was 14.1@103mph, yes 103mph! Has anyone else not been able to break 13's?? Any tips on launching techniques? Thanks in advance.

From the several post I've seen many manual owners do poorly in the 1/4 mile. On the other hand automatic owners seem to hover around 13.3 sec.

My 60 ft times were around 2.4 most of the time. I have been driving stick all my life, I guess I just have to get used to the car a little more.

Bingo! That's it. Just begin with small changes so you can monitor the improvements like launching rpm, tire pressure, shifting in the ideal rpm's and keep track of the weather conditions. all this plays a factor

I was launching at 3k rpms, just feathering it, and I was shifting at the redline. The weather was pretty hot, about 80-85 degrees. I didnt check my tire pressure.

Was the track prepped well? did you use the water pit? how much tire spin before you hooked up? what model do you have? base or SP? what were your oil temps?

Yeah, looks like you. Need to practice more with thiscar. You should be cutting 2.0 60' times if the track is prppped ok. This is a hard car to launch. 2.4 60's are definitely what's killing you.

Nice break-in technique!
Your car is never going to be fast. NEVER.

LMAO! 13s? You'll be lucky to beat a Prius!

Mean guy!
Have to admit it's that "reduced engine performance" line that keeps me under 4k for now...

I prefer the abuse break in method. This guy says i'll make more power in the long run.. I think this has been posted before. I think the whole under 4k for 1k is BS.
