I am not worried about the break in at 1200 miles. I wrote 1000, but its really around 1150 before I took it to the track. So really, I guess I did it at the right time. That was the first time I ever floored it thru the gears. I really just wanted to get some launch tips, didnt want to hear from pessimistic people, but I guess all car forums are the same.

I didnt use the water pit, and I had tire spin almost every launch. I really could not figure out how to launch this car. Sometimes, I even had tire spin when I shifted into 2nd gear. So what techniques can I do to get 1.9-2.0 60ft times?

Your car is never going to be fast. NEVER.

I have a feeling this has something to do with the "April Fools" under his name....if its not..well I took my car to the race track at like 650 ODO miles and its doing just fine :)

To the thread starter: Launch at when you see the last yellow, not when you see the green. Drop some rear tire pressure. You might be jumping off the clutch too fast and being too aggressive with the throttle at the start. You have to feather both momentarily to get the best hookup you can, otherwise you're just going to spin street tires and do a slow time.

When you launch doesn't really matter unless you're racing the guy in the other lane. The clock doesn't start 'til you trip the starting laser. You could sit there for a minute after the green if you wanted (and the track crews didn't get pissed) :D

how rude! no invite for fellow 370z members in SA? lol....well my best time at SAR was a 14.4 @ 104 on a crappy a$$ cold night (50 degrees) with spinning all the way up to the end of 3rd gear. my 60fts where all 2.4's

Had 400 on mine, made multiple passes between then and 1200, 12K later, still a beast.

Its all about the launch. My best was 13.9@106 and i suck at launching

One_Quick_Z 04-01-2010 01:53 PM

Yeah I waited to take mine to the track, only after 3,250miles and Amsoil, K&N High flow oil filter change. and ran 13.3 for my best of the day

Should have waited for the break in period to be over

Tell me about it. And everybody wants a S/C or T/T...... the car will be downright non-driveable with street tires.

ZKindaGuy 04-01-2010 03:10 PM

Sorry but the problem is the driver.

You know, when i had my Subaru WRX with my PPG Built transmission i was launching that sucker at 6k. 245's on all for. It seemed like nothing could ever beat me off the line and actually nothing did! ;p

I havent taken my z to the track yet. Has only a 1,000 miles on her.

I have to say on the break in period, this is such a argued subject. Most engine builders will tell you, Abuse it a little to seat the rings right while others want you to baby it.

I don't really like drag racing but just about every vehicle I've ever owned has been put on the dyno with only a couple hundred miles on the odo.

Yeah, doesn't Nissan take every GTR out to the track before delivering to the dealer and break it in?

my street tires were good for a 12.8009 @110.33 and they were the 19's.
It cut a 1.964 60 ft time.
Its also a 7 AT.
