My relative has a 2006 vette MT. We are going to settle this at the drag strip this spring. I think that he will beat me by a very small margine as im hopiing to get into the 12.5's with my N/A set up. My car will be set up for the 1/4 mile with all the toys on it. Now when i put the GTM SC on it it should run 11.???.
The vette has an exhaust system on it . other than that its stock.

Our engine is a 3.7 liter as you all know. Real close to being twice the cubic inches but only 20% more power? Not impressive numbers to me. Its a nice car but not worth $55,000 in my opinion. And about whether or not the vette I drove up beside was completely in it or not..... Who half throttles their car when they are trying to show out per say? Anything is possible I suppose...
why are you adding 7 thousand to the price tag? they sale for 48-49k. and ive seen nismo sale for 40K which is ridiculous for the little performance gain.

there putting down 390+ hp to the wheels and around 376tq
thats about 120 more hp to the wheels. and rated same mpg. so id say thats a pretty big gap. and just fyi 20% of say 260-70 rwhp which is about ave for the Z it seems is comes around to 53hp.

the ls3 is actually makes about 46% more power. and thats just the horse power. not counting in the more tq is makes at much lower rpms

and there are 4 bangers that are pushing nearly the same rwhp as the 3.7 from the factory so its kinda silly to bring up the "its almost twice as big". they could have made the engine pump out ALOT more power if they so chose to. but thats what Next generation cars are for. ntm avoiding gas guzling taxes and making sure the car still have good roadside manners and not to much power. not all the vette owners want the over the top power like say of the zo6.

anywho. i like both cars. but im not going to try and make the 370z as being on par with the c6 vettes. c5.. yes.

and good luck to Z eliminator. if he goofs up the launch or something you could possibly hold him off, but it will take him having to goof up. at 312rwhp and him with an exhaust work he still will have about 70-80hp over you and the weight advantage. get it on video!!!

Jesus, I knew I shouldn't have posted anything. And this is exactly why I don't have many posts and will go back to the way I was before with this forum. Reading it in the shadows. My friend paid $55,000 dollars for his vette. Did he get ripped off? Idk and don't care. I paid 30,665 for my car. 24,000 dollars IN MY OPINION should get a person alot more. I was speaking of flywheel horsepower. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe my friend's vette is rated at 415 FLYWHEEL hp. Our car is 336 hp. 79 more flywheel hp for a motor that is not far from being twice the cubic inches. If I had a point, then i guess this was it. I find it far more impressive that a 3.7l V-6 can be engineered to make the power that it is making from the factory vs. 6.2l engine making what it does from the factory. Does this mean the 3.7 is stretched thin as it is and the 6.2 has alot of room for improvement. This very well may be the case. I thought I was pointing out the obvious.

most c6 sell for 5 to 8k below sticker. you can get a z06 new for 58k if you look hard enough.

the displacement argument is lame. why be a sore loser?

new mustang v6 makes 310hp with 3.7l while getting 30mpg. it doesnt mean anything

Displacement argument = lame, wtf?
Really? Anyways, the Vette should pull from you from a dig, if you are going from a roll you might keep up for a bit but he will constantly be pulling from you (driver skill will be a factor). Vettes are fun cars, and if I wanted to stretch myself I would have bought a Z06 but I wanted to have room to relax and play with the aftermarket.

A lot of sports car owners half *** the throttle when "racing" because they aren't used to speed. There are a huge amount of sports car owners who could give a rats *** about power but own the car due to the prestige of it. So it is highly possible the Vette you ran wasn't putting it down all the way. In fact I know for sure he wasn't being that he didn't pull away from you. I've also raced a Vette going from Vegas to California in my 370z. We did 3 runs all starting from about 80mph up to 130-140. Every time he pulled on me pretty easily. It's simple numbers. It's one thing to say you didn't get beat by the Vette, it's another thing to be naive to the fact that the Vette is a superior performance car and the driver probably wasn't pushing the car to it's limits

Also to correct your multiple posts on this subject the current Vette has 430hp and if you opted for the Z06 exhaust upgrade (which most dealers have already put on their Vettes) it increases that number to 436. So we are talking about 104hp more than our Z's. Say what you want but the Vette is probably the best bang for the buck sports car around right now when you compare dollar for performance.

Oh, and your statements about displacement vs. power made and why Chevy can't get more out of the 6.3. You realize the Z06 makes 505hp right? The regular Vette is detuned down to 430hp.

^the Z06 is a 7.0 liter engine, its not the 6.2.

7.0 liter=LS7

Hey, way to read up on the vette. I thought it had a 6.2 liter motor. My mistake. 430 - 336 = 94 Marginal, I know but since you call yourself calling me out on this matter, I thought I should point out the obvious. Everyone, if 100 horsepower more for 18,000 to 24,000 dollars more is worth it then go for it. Spend, spend away. How fast would the 370 go with 18,000 to 24,000 more dollars put into it??? Hmmm.... the vette your speaking of weighs 3208 to 3311 lbs depending on which model you get (Base Coupe or Grand Sport Coupe). 370Z weighs 3232, 3278 or 3300 lbs depending on what model you get. 370Z + the difference it would cost to get the sweet deal of a car THE GLORIOUS vette. How fast would the 370 be then? I'm sure your going to shoot holes all in this but lets here it. I'm sure your about to say the vette will still be faster. My God, if I didn't know any better, I would have thought I posted my "Can I get ya'lls opinion" thread on a vette forum. Keep in my mind, I never thought/said a 370Z was faster. I asked.... If I had pre-determined outlook on this matter, I wouldn't have ever posted anything regarding a vette. I'm not retired or going through a mid life crisis so an automatic c6 vette will never be an option nor will it be if/when I make it to be this older age I speak of.

Unlike you, I actually did have one. It was faster than the Z by far. If you think yours can keep up, you have got to be kidding yourself. At VIR, my 400HP C6 was 5 sec faster than my 287HP 350Z with the same tires and brake pads with the same driver. I sold it because my car was running out of warranty and I wanted something different. Also the C6 was way too flashy for my liking, I prefer to drive something more low key. Both cars have their own pros and cons, it's all personal preference.

There is a reason why the Corvette is in a higher class in almost all types of racing, it is a faster car. You might not like it, but you have to respect them for what they are.

This is as lame as the Corvette people not giving other cars any respect. Please get out of your own little world, there are other things that are either better or at least different. Go on the Corvette forum and search, most Vettes are usually 4-10K under MSRP. A base Corvette is around 46K or so if memory serves me right.

I do respect vettes....the Z06 and ZR1. I realize the vette is different but better? Thats pure opinion. For the money spent after WHATEVER discount you get or once got on a C6 vette, imo it isn't better. My God it should be faster, it has a way bigger motor. Faster doesn't always put a car in a HIGHER class. And trust me, I will never own or try to own a C6 vette. If the Lord blesses me with a big amount of money, I would definetly consider the Z06 and I would for sure want a ZR1. Love em. Again, I'll repeat myself one more time. I asked everyones opinion about my chances with a C6 vette and I mostly got jack *** answers like yours. Love what you will and I'll do the same.

I don't see where you were getting jackass answers. They were all pretty honest and I think you were just being overly sensitive for the internets.
