My relative has a 2006 vette MT. We are going to settle this at the drag strip this spring. I think that he will beat me by a very small margine as im hopiing to get into the 12.5's with my N/A set up. My car will be set up for the 1/4 mile with all the toys on it. Now when i put the GTM SC on it it should run 11.???.
The vette has an exhaust system on it . other than that its stock.

there putting down 390+ hp to the wheels and around 376tq thats about 120 more hp to the wheels. and rated same mpg. so id say thats a pretty big gap. and just fyi 20% of say 260-70 rwhp which is about ave for the Z it seems is comes around to 53hp. the ls3 is actually makes about 46% more power. and thats just the horse power. not counting in the more tq is makes at much lower rpms and there are 4 bangers that are pushing nearly the same rwhp as the 3.7 from the factory so its kinda silly to bring up the "its almost twice as big". they could have made the engine pump out ALOT more power if they so chose to. but thats what Next generation cars are for. ntm avoiding gas guzling taxes and making sure the car still have good roadside manners and not to much power. not all the vette owners want the over the top power like say of the zo6. anywho. i like both cars. but im not going to try and make the 370z as being on par with the c6 vettes. c5.. yes. and good luck to Z eliminator. if he goofs up the launch or something you could possibly hold him off, but it will take him having to goof up. at 312rwhp and him with an exhaust work he still will have about 70-80hp over you and the weight advantage. get it on video!!! most c6 sell for 5 to 8k below sticker. you can get a z06 new for 58k if you look hard enough.
the displacement argument is lame. why be a sore loser? new mustang v6 makes 310hp with 3.7l while getting 30mpg. it doesnt mean anything |

Sore loser? Who is the sore loser? Lame to you and thought provoking to me. And whats you point about the price? If vette's were so wonderful and affordable as they are being pertrayed to be on this thread then why did ya'll settle for a Z?

Displacement argument = lame, wtf?
Really? Anyways, the Vette should pull from you from a dig, if you are going from a roll you might keep up for a bit but he will constantly be pulling from you (driver skill will be a factor). Vettes are fun cars, and if I wanted to stretch myself I would have bought a Z06 but I wanted to have room to relax and play with the aftermarket.

A lot of sports car owners half *** the throttle when "racing" because they aren't used to speed. There are a huge amount of sports car owners who could give a rats *** about power but own the car due to the prestige of it. So it is highly possible the Vette you ran wasn't putting it down all the way. In fact I know for sure he wasn't being that he didn't pull away from you. I've also raced a Vette going from Vegas to California in my 370z. We did 3 runs all starting from about 80mph up to 130-140. Every time he pulled on me pretty easily. It's simple numbers. It's one thing to say you didn't get beat by the Vette, it's another thing to be naive to the fact that the Vette is a superior performance car and the driver probably wasn't pushing the car to it's limits Also to correct your multiple posts on this subject the current Vette has 430hp and if you opted for the Z06 exhaust upgrade (which most dealers have already put on their Vettes) it increases that number to 436. So we are talking about 104hp more than our Z's. Say what you want but the Vette is probably the best bang for the buck sports car around right now when you compare dollar for performance. Oh, and your statements about displacement vs. power made and why Chevy can't get more out of the 6.3. You realize the Z06 makes 505hp right? The regular Vette is detuned down to 430hp. |

^the Z06 is a 7.0 liter engine, its not the 6.2.
7.0 liter=LS7 6.2 liter=LS3

There is a reason why the Corvette is in a higher class in almost all types of racing, it is a faster car. You might not like it, but you have to respect them for what they are. This is as lame as the Corvette people not giving other cars any respect. Please get out of your own little world, there are other things that are either better or at least different. Go on the Corvette forum and search, most Vettes are usually 4-10K under MSRP. A base Corvette is around 46K or so if memory serves me right. Last edited by cossie1600; 03-25-2010 at 12:33 AM. |

I don't see where you were getting jackass answers. They were all pretty honest and I think you were just being overly sensitive for the internets.
