Post Your Track Setup!
Post you track setups and the effects on the car. Please make sure you tell us what kind of racing you do and your impressions. Examples of this include information about different alignment settings (camber, caster, toe, etc). Different tires, different tire sizes, etc. Suspension upgrades such as coilovers, swaybars, springs, etc. Aero components such as wings, splitters and diffusers. Ride height, spring rates, damper settings, etc. Brake pads, rotors, BBK, stainless lines, boosters, etc. The more info you include the more everyone can use to compare and make their own decisions. I know that this is partly subjective so it is important that you test stuff out well and that you are specific with your comments. Also try and keep changes to a single component at a time. If you have a combination of things, make sure you state that first. This thread can also be used to review track/performance related parts, for example brake pads, coilovers, and tires. The goal is to figure out what does what and how the car's behavior changes. Eventually, setting up your car will involve less trial and error, therefore maximizing the effectiveness of each change and minimizing wasted time and money. Pictures are always welcome.

I can't overstate how much help threads like this have been for the Miata guys. I copped a setup for my old '94 and I was amazed at the transformation of the car.

SPC has alignment kits out for the serious race alignments.

We did an auto-x this weekend. I ran 40psi front and 34psi rear with the most success. I'm running 9k/7k custom springs. Hotchkis swaybars help reduce body roll especially in slalom.

The stock swaybars are honestly adequate in the front but way too soft in the rear. The car understeers like a pig from the factory.

I'm in stock class for this season so I can't change the rear bar, only the front one. I guess an alternative option would be to find and adjustable front bar that can go softer than stock.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead now that we have all had the car for longer and a bunch of us have alignments.
My current setup: -2.1 F Camber -2.1 R Camber 0 toe front .05 toe IN rear So far, not so bad, not so great. Obviously steering is a little livelier, but it feels almost a little heavier than when I had more negative camber front. Thats also in part due to the toe in rear. The car feels pretty poised, but has lost a little composure since I raised the rear a bit. Looks like I'm going to have to take the WHOLE car down about 1/3 inch, if not 1/2. Also I think next alignment, its going to be -2.5 front, -2.1 rear. Hows everyone else doing? |

does anyone know what the stock alignment settings are? i'm thinking about going to 18" wheels for track and keeping the 19's for street. any good, lightweight 18's on the market that will fit this car? i'm thinking about keeping the same width for the tires. |

^^^ 18's are definately a good idea for track setup...they are usually lighter, stronger, and tires are cheaper!!!
I can set you up with a set of custom made Forgestar wheels for the track. Give me a call! Scott

Hehe thats your STI? I know your car from NASIOC...or IWSTI I think. I thought that was EDO's car though...
Robi was supposed to come down to FL and tune my suspension...wonder if he is still coming...I think he already came and left. Wait a minute... did Jon Drenas tune your car?? And my STI had very similar settings for the street / track |

Haha! Yeah that's me! I usually post on Nasioc at "Stinji"
I used to be sponsored by EDO but things changed...so now my shop sponsor is HB Speed and Jon tunes it...i'm much happier now From what I hear...Robi should be coming out your way pretty soon! Check the Evo M forums as they usually post up their trips there. If any of you get the opportunity to get their suspension tuned by Robispec...i HIGHLY recommend it!!!
