When I ran street tires on my g, I could only muster an occasional 2.1, with mostly 2.2's; after the jwt flywheel, those numbers only got worse. Remember that the g is heavier and has a longer wheelbase.
I then went with some 26" BFG DR's mounted on 16" enkeis. I then regularly cut low 1.9's with an occasional high 1.8 sixty. That was good for a consistent 0.3 to 0.35 drop in the sixty. But because I no longer experience wheelhop with the DR's, I picked up over a half-second on the big end. Wheelhop out of the hole with hurt you worse than even moderate wheelspin. The BFG's have seen well over 150 passes. They're getting pretty bare now, but there's another 30 to 50 passes left in them. They provide great traction, just be sure that you light em up first. I usually run around 15 psi (cold). I've tried lower, but I would just bog the **** out of the car. Those 150+ passes have been at 6k to 7k rpm clutch drops, or with extremely short feathering. Traction won't snap things at near stock power levels if you preload the clutch(but that's good way to kill your clutch). Just remember that you can drive home with a slipping clutch - you can't drive home with a broken halfshaft. |

Set of Kosei K1's and some Hoosier slicks. Bout all you need. If you aren't a fan of the Hoosier's, Mickey T's are your next best bet. The Nitto's are decent, but not on the same level as the Hoosiers or Mickey Thompsons.

Had the NT555Rs on my trans am, and GTO. Weren't as sticky as I was expecting them to be (still better than streets), but the tread lasted much longer than I was expecting. If I still had any of my old racing slips, I would tell you how much I reduced of my drag times. It was worth the purchase.

After reading this thread, I would never buy a used 370Z.

Hey Red I'm bringing your thread back from the dead. I have a 2009 G sedan with the sport package (Akebono brakes, 18" wheels). I'm looking for some wheels and drag radials that will fit on the back w/o looking ricerish. Looks like I'd go with the 285/35/18 555R but they are over 11 inches wide. Did you end up getting the drag radials, if so what wheels did you mount them on?
