SPL front lower control arm bushing replacement
Took the front lower control arm to a performance shop to have the SPL
bushings pressed onto the lower control arm. They said they put the arms in a freezer to shrink it. The stud was clearly too large to receive the bushing. The crack is in the main spherical bushing that outer one articulates over. Is this dangerous to install or will it still function and hold up. You can clearly see how the inner sleeve pushed the aluminum from the stud as it was pressed on. My car is strictly a race car. Sorry, but pictures won't load. |

They fvcked up. They didn't take measurements before they started. Mine went right on. I wouldn't trust it. That split is putting pressure on the bearings.

That's what I thought. I've removed that one already. The other one is crazy
tight as well. They charged me for two shop hours, so I flushed a total of $ 1,100.00 down the drain. I ordered the Energy poly bushings instead, so I can at get the front suspension back together. Only reason I did it right now was because I had it apart to install the new Feal 442 coilovers. |
