Z car terrorizes Buttonwillow
Hey fellow track rats, I made a short video for laughs and figured you guys might appreciate it.
The other driver didn’t get hurt and neither did his car, otherwise I wouldn’t have made this. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3K9bbCZZa3c:owned: |
Smooth move

That's what happens when you turn in late and carry a bit too much entry speed.
|
Man I thought you are going to scare the next one into the dirt too lol
|
If you miss sunset your best move is to drive straight out into the dirt. If you try to save it you will end up as that car and he was very lucky not to hit the wall.

That could have been ugly.
What's bad, is when you loop it and you're eyeball to eyeball with the guy behind you. Both your faces look like this.:eek: |

We did have a wall hit that day. A burnt orange V1 Nismo lost control and trashed the rear passenger side. Looked like it was from the taillight and aft so hopefully minor damage. |

http://www.the370z.com/members/2011-...05464-wall.jpg Turn1 one NJMP Lightening, almost everyone who tries to save it goes into the same 40' section of the wall. So much so they put two Concrete Barriers in the back to help reinforce it. You can actually see the tire marks of the saves tracking out left and the fails tracking right. I've gone off a few times there too, there is almost 1000ft of grass run off to the left to get back control while almost none to the right. Most newer tracks are built well and have run offs in the right places but older ones like Watkins Glen have many spots where if you screw up there is no safe way to go. |

I’ll be on that course this weekend and decided to check YouTube for some footage. I really hope people keep their egos in check through turn 11. Edit: I’ll be giving people plenty of space the first two sessions out. |

I've dipped three wheels on sunset, but haven't gone off there yet...

Thank you for contributing. |
I was at Buttonwillow a few weeks back and almost over-cooked it going into sunset, the car initially understeered, then began to oversteer. I was able to correct, but just barely and had to sacrifice a bunch of speed to safely make the corner. A little more speed or a little more slip angle and the rear end would have dropped into the dirt. Like HotRodz said, don't try to be a hero there...just ride it out and re-enter the track once it's safe to do so. Very few people recover from an off there when they try to save it, sadly two of my friends have hit that wall.
