There is great customer interest in Time Attack. It's just a matter of getting them locked in, and following through. This is where that 5 car hauler would come in really handy. We need to take the hassle factor out.

I can live with 4 east coast events, and then one long haul to CA.

mike, how many events will count towards the championship? i just looked at the rules and i think it might be fun to run in the enthusiast class. what do you think about the potential of the 370z in that class compared to other cars? how many and what other cars have signed up for that class?

All of the west coast events will count towards the west coast championship. The 370Z is an excellent platform for Enthusiast RWD. My car was actually Enthusiast Class legal in 2009, but since they didn't have that class at the beginning of the season, I decided to stick with Street class instead so I woldn't lose my points. So if I were to run Enthusiast RWD (last year it was called Stock RWD), the podiums would have looked like this...

Willow Springs
1st - Bonanni Motorsports 370Z
2nd - Corvette Specialties C6 Corvette
3rd - TrackHQ S2000

Spring Mountain
1st - Bonanni Motorsports 370Z
2nd - AE Performance 370Z
3rd - Track HQ S2000

Auto Club Speedway
1st - AE Performance 370Z
2nd - Robispec/Pizza Factory 370Z
3rd - S2000
4th - Bonanni Motorsports 370Z (about a half second behind 3rd place)

So I would say that the based off of that info, the 370Z is the best choice for Enthusiast RWD.

wow, sounds good! i'm usually not so die-hard as you guys and just enjoy track days, but this is motivation to possibly start competing.

how many cars do you expect in this class for 2010 and what are they (if you know)?

You should just come out for the fun of it. If you enjoy regular HPDE weekends, you will LOVE time attack.

Not sure how many cars for this season, but I will say that Redline is making a MAJOR push to raise awareness of the sport, which will probably result in more competitors.

I'll be hitting up the few east coast events... man we really need to get some good turnout out here!! Getting putnum park on the east coast time attack list would be nice.

I did this event at NJMP two years ago. There aren't a lot of info on the website to see what the schedule is. Is this a full day thing? We had a problem with rookie driver taking up the track when we went the first time. After all the BS the first two sessions, we were in much better shape. I doubt I will be able to go, especially at $400, unless we get tons of track time

Its all weekend. I think you will find that RTA events this year will be a whole new world than when you last competed. They have really become a professional level series as far as event management goes. They are spending over $300k this year in promotions to get fans out to the events so even if you don't compete, you should for sure at least check it out as a spectator. I would highly suggest competing though as it would be just that much more fun. They are also running the Lightning course this year instead of Thunderbolt.

I will be out at NJ just hanging out (going out there to do some journalism stuff). I haven't found anyone to drive for yet on the east coast or in particular this event, but if you see me walking around, I will be in a Berk Technology t-shirt so say .

I believe it. The only thing I am afraid is that it will turn so much into a vendor showcase that the amateur drivers will just get run off the track. If I have a 370z ready to compete by then, I will consider giving it a shot. There were some loopholes two years ago, allowed me to win at NJMP. I am curious to see if I can sneak in and get one of those again

Just come out and have fun! As for the loopholes, I doubt it, tech this season is VERY in depth with custom machines built to check ride height & everything. They've gotten pretty hardcore.
