Official 1/2mi trap speeds

The standing 1/2mi event interest has seemingly picked up a lot here recently and I wanted to make a spot where everybody that has run can post their trap speeds.

The current records are as follows:

Overall VQ (DE): Kyle Quiterio @ 183.37mph (350Z) - TID Performance

VHR: Nathan Ginter @ 176.19mph (370Z) - SOHO

Spooler 11-06-2019 03:55 PM

Standing Half Mile:

370z VHR boosted: 163.57 mph

No Traction at all in Ocala, Fl. Go somewhere else. LOL

The current records are as follows:

Overall VQ (and DE): SOHO Motorsports @ 172.546mph

VHR (boosted): Seb @ Specialty Z @ 166.85mph

VHR (NA): best I've seen is AlWakRa @ 130mph

Please correct or add any info if I've missed anything.

If you are willing to keep this updated. This will be awesome.

That's the plan. I'm hoping to make it to an event next year to have something to contribute myself.

The 370z record was just broke again at NoFlyZoneCalifornia. This was by Jorgie's car at Unique Motorsports. MPH was a 170.19.
That was surprising.

Is that the 1031whp silver car? The one that Freshkicks ran against before I think.

Yeap, I think they changed the turbo setup again. There is way more in my car. The question is do I want to pursue it.

My very personal opinion, is to chase records by builds that are similar in nature (all purpose street car...elegant inside and out...except for changing boost, the trim you break record 1/2 mile in = the trim you drive to get grocery in hot summer in = the trim you run track days in).

I wouldn’t bother with records done by single purpose builds.

Just my general personal preference, not singling out anybody.

It's a record just like any other. I can say this. My car will always be a daily driver. It brings joy to me every day. I wouldn't have it any other way.

I have seen the footage of this 170.196 1/2 mile run. It was a rolling half mile, not a standing half mile. Please edit the record. We don't know what exactly Seb did. We have no footage. It appears his run was a rolling 1/2 mile also. He would of had to line up at the cones?

Fixed, at least back to Seb, but I thought we had confirmed his was a standing start?

That is not where the half mile starts for them. It starts at the orange cone looking things or flags? It would be nice
for someone to find out where their 1/2 mile starts.

Here's a video of Tony's (Fast Intentions) run. It's hard to tell if the run starts from a stand still or the flags. I had specifically asked Seb though and he told me it was a standing start.

I am good with Seb's mph standing. The 170mph one is rolling for sure.

Spooler 11-10-2019 12:47 PM

The only way for it to be fair, in all reality, is to go run at the same event as them. All of the 1/2 mile event folks do it a little differently.

:iagree: If you were spinning through fifth then that track is crap. Too much dust/dirt.

That's a long ways to go. LOL All of these are standing starts. The issue is where does the 1/2 mile actually begin. Wannagofast the 1/2 mile starts at the beam you line up on. Shiftsector and NoflyZone are questionable. It would make it so much easier if they all did it the same.

NFZ only races 1/2 mile now. In years past they didn't. Due to insurance all racing is done in the measured 1/2 now.

Just saw the video too. I agree, it’s very questionable. The way the cars are lined up didn’t seem accurate, and I would assume because it was in essence a rolling start with 1/2 mile marker where the cones were.

The website isn’t very specific either, it mixes drag and roll racing in there same sentence.

Would love to see all the Z’s just do the same event lol.

Spooler 11-10-2019 02:52 PM

Here is freshhkiicks doing an event. Not sure which one it is. Maybe you guys that know the area can answer. At 7:32 he lines up at the cones for a standing half mile run. All the other runs were rolling 1/2 mile. He did a 167.28mph.

Watched videos of another NFZ event and it seemed to be a real standing start 1/2 mile tho. Confused.

Ah I never actually watched the full video. But now it’s clear. Lol, it’s a “standing start” but it’s a little more than 1/2 mile, 1-2 gears with of extra distance.

Just compare 7:00 mark and 7:32 mark, it’s clear as day rolling start vs standing start.

I can't find Tony's statement from last spring that explains the change but NFZ in past years had a 400ish ft of pacing before the measured 1/2 mile. They would also let you make glory runs from the very end of the runway if you wanted. But everything in 2019 is standing 1/2mile.

They don't do it different everywhere. They had to change the racing distance this year for insurance purposes. If you watch NFZ videos from '18 or older it is more than 1/2 mile, all racing in '19 is standing 1/2 mile.

Well, the 170mph run had a highlighter yellow cone marking the start of the half mile. That was a roll.

It was on Instagram, search for uniquemototsports_jorgie.

Either something wrong with my Instagram or jordie’s account, it’s now showing no posts when I visit.

My better half found it for me, I sent a message to Omega Motor Sports asking about the distance. They posted a long letter about it in early spring, how they where no longer allowed to let people run outside the measured 1/2 mile. It was strictly enforced at NFZMidwest this year and I don't see Tony letting people fck up his good thing for a glory run any more.

-ZS-Carpenter 11-10-2019 03:59 PM

This is straight from the NFZ guys. All trap speeds are within the measured 1/2.

So the Unique Motorsports boys did beat Seb, then. Alright, will adjust. I'm w/ Spooler, though. It would be nice to have a more organized, uniform method of operation for this. And the flag stand is misleading because it looks like several of them do pace and go from the flag like TX2K roll racing.

Yeap, it is a pain in the butt. It would be great if we all can understand how each one does the track layout to keep all the dang confusion down. I want it to be fair for everyone. I doubt I run the 1/2 mile again. If I do, nobody will know unless you are at the event.

I asked WannaGoFast about the event in Georgia since this was 2 years they haven't done it there. Apparently there were some new laws put in place that cut some locations out for whatever reason, that unfortunately being 1 of them.
