Sad first trip to the track
Like the title says, I didn't have a good first trip to the track with my 2012 Nismo.
My best time was 14.56 @99.9 with a dismal 60 foot of 2.58. Launched at 2,500 RPM. Blew the tires off on the 2nd run. Launched at 6,000 RPM I made a better 60 foot of 2.28 on the 3rd run but let off the clutch to fast and grinded second gear. resulting in a 14.63 @97.1. Launched at 3,500 RPM Running cat back GReady exhaust, K&N intake, aftermarket flywheel (not sure brand or type) and Ohtsu 285/35Z R19 FP8000 on the stock Rays. Track temp was 90 degrees with 70% humidity, at sea level. (No problem raceway in South Louisiana) Even with a bad 60 foot I would have though I could get under a 14 second 1/4 mile. What are everyone's thoughts? Last edited by Gray Goose; 07-31-2019 at 08:43 AM. |

You're tires probably aren't doing you favors either. It's an older tire designed from the last decade as a Falken fk452. When I say last decade, I'm talking about 2007ish.

I bought a set of 18” wheels and a pair of MT ET Street in 285/18.
Really helps to sort out the starting line technique. Seems our V6 is really picky about staging rpm, and shift timing. |

Ive got a 7AT.
Wheel hop was problem, until I installed whiteline poly rear diff bushings, and replaced that leaking rear crossmember fluid filled mess. I altered the pinion angle slightly also, when I replaced the bushings. |

sometimes it's a happy sad...….. now I can buy more parts for the Z and wife can't try to say I don't need it some how. I mean the Z is broke you gotta fix it. You know make it better and stronger makes me slightly less bummed I broke her.
