Yeah I’ve never hit ice mode on with my Z, and I’ve all four rotors smoking when coming off the track. I would suggest try what Rusty said and see if that helps, or contact SS firehawk. He is hard on the brakes as well and he ran a 2:30 around Sebring.

I was thinking overnight: The ice mode issue has gotten much worse since I put in my Nismo Pro Diff set for 2way. I’m wonder if that’s contributing to my issue since it changes lockup dynamics on decelerations. Luckily it’s adjustable to 1.5 way, and it may be worth changing. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Does anyone in the St. Pete., Tampa or Sarasota Bradenton area have a 370z knowledgable mechanic they can recommend. I purchased a 370z road race
project that needs a fair bit of finishing work. I need someone to thoroughly go through the car and tell me what shape it is mechanically. I can't seem to find anyone in the Sarasota Bradenton area. Any suggestion is appreciated. |

End of May?

Elmo and I will be out end of May. For your brake issues, What's your pad/tire combo and when you press the brakes are you stabbing them or rolling in the pressure (quickly, but not suddenly)? I know that ice mode occurs on a brake tire mismatch and when you shock the ABS. If the initial bite is too aggressive, try a Japanese pad. It sounds dumb, but Japanese pads don't tend to bite as hard initially, but the stopping power and consistency is there. Elmo and I have run Winmax W5's with a lot of success.

Would someone add me to their guest list the next time you head out to a Chin TD at Sebring please?
I emailed them after reading no outside spectators are allowed and they confirmed only invited guests. |

Well we learned some interesting things about the car. The ducting ssfirehawk made out of cardboard and duct tape, worked a little to good lol. It has massive amounts of air flowing into the engine bay and underneath the car. Downside not enough venting to get the air out, under braking into high speed corner the rear end would get very light and start to move around and you visibly see the hood shaking and hear the undertray scraping lol. Almost the car still seems to run happy at 270 degree oil temps, would of loved to logged at the oil temps, with pulling power when oil temps reached 280. This is in 90 plus degree heat with humidity ranging from 60-90%. Hopefully we can take this information and make some
Improvement to reach out sub 2:30 goal on street tires. |
