I caught it 24 hours after I got the car back. Had only put about 15 miles on it since the repairs. Heard a very slight whine and located it with a mechanical stethoscope to confirm it was the PS pump. That was also when I noticed the reservoir was almost empty. Been driving on it for the last 25K miles without it getting any worse, so I think I got lucky.
The dealer was a complete âss about the whole thing and my service advisor had already quit by the time repairs were done. So I just let it go.

I had the dealer doing thousands of dollars worth of work (Nissan Corporate covered it out of warranty) when basically the entire airbag system shìt the bed at 80K miles. The steering rack was covered under a 3rd party warranty, so I had the dealer do all the work at the same time. It was purely a matter of convenience because I did not have the time to do the work myself at the time.
I never worked on my own car before owning the Z. But a couple years after purchase I had a ton of tools and was doing everything myself, including transmission drop and CSC replacement in my garage on jack stands. I had a lot more free time the first few years of ownership and taught myself a lot in that time. Believe me, if I could have avoided the dealership, I would have

Totally understood. Wasn't meant as a dig. That's definitely negligence though. You could always sue...

Unfortunately, another example of "not worth my time." And the dealer was already helping me out with the airbag stuff. I chalked it up to a win that they didn't break anything else My thinking was also if the PS steering pump goes out, I just get a much better arm work out until I replace it, right?

Been looking through the forum for finned diff cover discussions. I'm getting a Wavetrac differential, so I probably don't need a diff cooler. Initially I was looking at the Z1 high capacity finned diff cover, but I'm not real happy with the way Z1 has been treating their customers lately. Plus it interferes with the FI exhaust and will require trimming of the fins.
Does anyone know if the fins on the Nismo finned diff cover interfere with the FI exhaust? Any additional thoughts on why one might be better or worse than the other?

IIRC IPLG37 had a Nismo cover for sale not too long ago. I was interested in it but like you, I didn't know (and he was unsure) if it fit the FI exhaust without trimming so I held off.

Pretty sure Hotrodz has Nismo cover with FI exhaust. Don't think he had to trim anything though. I was just trying to confirm. Z1 high capacity requires a fin or two to be trim IIRC. If you get the 3" FI exhaust you have to practically hack one whole side of fins off the Z1 cover.

I have the Nismo cover and FI exhaust and not issues. It’s close but doesn’t rub. Seriously doubt that helps you any since I have a G. |

Bob confirmed that the Nismo finned diff cover does not interfere with the 2.5" FI exhaust.
