Michelin pss vs MT ET street
So I been researching this for about a week ..and can’t get a definiant answer ...how would the pss compare to the MT on the drag strip ...with a boosted Nismo Z stock suspension and camber . Tire sizes as well 305 vs 285 .... any info would help

Stock camber is around -1.75* on rear,,,you’ll toast the inner part of either of those 2 tires listed (while warming up in box).
If your tires are pretty close to shot,,,try them out. A heated up street tire will grip well at the track; as most places also have some adhesive on them as well. The compound on the MT tires is softer & more designed for dragging,,,probably about 18psi or so pressure. Street tires around 30’ish. You’re gonna have to purchase some camber arms & possibly traction arms to achieve near 0* camber in rear, while keeping your toe in check. My 11’ wasn’t boosted & was consistent mid 1.90’s 60’ |
:tup:Also; the smallest & lightest tire/wheel combo will be quicker (as long as you hook).
305/35/18’s in the MT is popular with the big brakes on back. Gotta experiment warming tires & launches |
Current tires are 305 MPSS ...stock camber ... about 60% tread left ...I have a brand new set of MPSS in the garage ...but thought about only using them for daily driving ...and getting the MT 285/45/18 for the track
Would I still have issues with stock camber with the 285 ? |
If you want to do drag racing you will need camber arms. You will want to set the car to a + positive camber setting to get your best traction. Our cars have a ton of camber built in and greatly increases when the car squats. For canyon carving this would be terrible. Pic your poison.

Yea I was looking to get the camber kit and adjust it ..didn’t know how severe it was on stock camber ...or how much it would matter on stock height |
The camber curve on the Z does not go well for drag racing. Best bet is 0 camber, stiffer rear springs, and stiffen the compression on the rear shocks if you can to keep the rear from squatting too much.

Use a tread depth gauge & measure depth (from inside to out) and you’ll see how it’s wearing; especially if you’v been spinning.
You will maximize your traction & tire life to stand wheels upright,,,but when you move the camber more positive-your toe will move more positive as well. Only use an alignment shop familiar with the Z & don’t set the toe at 0..as you need it slightly positive as well. As Spooler mentioned, whan these cars launch; they negate camber inward....so with bunches of power,,,a tad positive wouldn’t hurt you, as they would lean upright on launch. Practice is good...Carolina Dragway was closest track for me; they supposed to have been working on it lately. |

Your 305/30/19’s are closer to 26”...so would probably be near 115 or so. Unless you want to shift to fifth (1:1)...your 17’ Nismo has 3.92:1 gears out back. Unsure where you plan on running; but you need a good 60’ time to have a low ET. |
