Brake Issues
Hi,
I've been running into a lot of brake issues lately (mostly on Laguna Seca) I installed the Z1 2 Piece fronts and 1 piece performance rears with carbotech xp 10/8, with SS brake lines and rbf600 fluids. a couple months ago I ran with that setup and it left nasty marks on the rotors and I had to try to clean them off (rebedding), and it made loud screeching noises after the track day, but since I didn't feel any vibration or fade I just sort of ignored it last Friday I ran there again and this time, the first session my rotors again had very nasty marks all over them. In the second session my brakes felt spongy and shortly after pedal went all the way to the floor with barely any stopping power (boiled fluid?). I waited a few hours before next couple sessions and the car ran fine. However the marks are still there. My question is do you guys run into this issue too? if so other than brake ducts / control arm deflectors is there anything I can really do? |
Sounds like you need the Stillen brake duct upgrade. Nothing more you can really do.

By nasty marks I am assuming you mean you have hot spots on your rotors. Unless your getting vibrations I wouldn't bother changing them. I got them before and they went away after some normal driving. Now I used Frozenrotors and they seem to be holding up much better and they are not much more then OEM blanks. There's also a 10% off code I found here. Those brakes are going to be loud, it's normal. I am getting the stillen front bumper and cooling ducts installed "soon". You can try RBF660 but be mindful it has a much higher tendency to suck up water from the air. Also you might want to get a basic brake fluid tester or just change the fluid prior to every event. Can't think of anything else you could try.

Probably going to look at custom brake ducts or something for my bumper, thanks for the suggestions though |
You can use APR NACA ducts like I have done. You can also reach out to Russ at Z1 and see what brake ducts they are running on their Amuse front bumper as well. You should also get some titanium backing plates as well. As stated above don't worry about the discoloration as it is normal along with the squealing. You can always add some brake grease to cut down on the noise.

Finite Element Design has the Nismo carbon brake ducts. That is what I have waiting for me to install.

yeah the amuse bumper is already on the way here from Japan, but I'll take a look at the Z1 car and see what they do, thanks! hopefully Sonoma will be a less brake intensive track
