I actually had another question for you guys (instead of opening a new thread).
On track, I felt that under braking coming into a corner, even with the tiniest bit of steering angle, the rear end would start to squirm and wander a bit, especially when coming into the corkscrew over the crest. Is this a result of just soft(ish) stock suspension or driver error? Thanks in advance! |

It's a combination of stuff. Your rear is lifting. Because of weight transfer. Stiffer springs, more compression damping in the front. More rebound damping in the rear. This is a couple of ways of tackling the issue. And you can change your braking too. Don't stomp on the brake pedal. Easy on.

Yeah, I started letting off a bit as I crested and got back on and it seemed to settle the rear a bit. I think my braking application was pretty solid, smooth, and progressive (I tried emulating braking on my motorcycle which doesn't have ABS), but I'll definitely try to smooth it out further. Just seemed to rotate and wiggle a bit more under braking than I expected. Thank you for the input! I'll also definitely look into some coilovers eventually (when the wallet allows). Gotta get the CSC and stuff sorted out first.

Jumping on the brakes too quick or letting off too quick will upset the car. You have to learn what the car likes and dislikes. Smooth is fast.

I would get a Hotchkis front sway bar next when you get the funds. It will help out with under steer during corning.
Rusty is right slow is fast and smooth is fast. Once you get the smooth thing down you can move forward with how to apply the brake quickly, evenly and smoothly. My experience far with handling the Z is equivalent to a high end call girl. You can treat me roughly but remember I am a lady!
