Who's making the move to STU?
It's about damn time...I think I'm going to make the jump from BS. :driving:
|
I'll be there in 2019. I want to start having discussion on what all we think needs to be addressed on these cars in order for them to compete. We had a short one in the last pages of the autocross thread, but I think the conversation merits its own thread.
So far for my build I am looking at fortune coilovers, z1 camber products and 2 piece rotors, and after discussing it with other forum members, a os geiken lsd. That's for 2019 anyways. I want to hold off on the remaining allowances until I see how things play out. What things were you planning on doing and when would you make the jump? edit: The Nismo models were recently approved as well. Should be good fun. |
A build list would be fun! It all depends on funds as well...
For me... Timing - 2018 season, but waiting for the weather to warm up and salt to come off the roads. 1) 18x10's and 285 RE-71R's at all 4 corners. What offset front and rear? 2) Intake 3) Tune? I'm not 100% clear on the SCCA's verbiage and allowances... 4) JRZ or KWv3? 5) Camber plates 6) OSG - maybe 2019 7) Front bar (carryover from BS) 8) Exhaust (carryover from BS) 9) Brakes...more than happy with the stock/sport set up 10) Seat and harness |

Also if you get bored, you can always throw a set of Hoosiers on it and have a fun BSP-ish car. ;)

Sorry...meant the Camber Kit that eliminates the eccentric bolt and holds your alignment. New control arms...some day.
Currently have 18x10 Forgestar rears...would be cheaper just to get another set of 18x10's with the correct offset for the front. What spring rate do you recommend for rear? |
I have 900 lb/in springs in the rear but that's probably too much for a non-aero, non R-comp shod car.

One of the wheels I am looking at comes in a 10.5 +22. I happened to have a set of 25mm spacers which would put my stock wheels right where the perspective wheels would be. I took a few photos of how it went. This is on my cars "bad side" it has about -.7 to -.9 degrees of camber depending on the shops rack, but none the less it sucks. From what I saw, I think the the 10.5 +22 will be able to fit no problem once camber is in the -2.5 to -3 range. Other members in this section are running wider with r compounds so I don't think hitting the max wheel and tire allowance will be an issue.

There is always the chance that more options will become available the longer I wait. |
My STU Build List if I keep my car:
18x10 (Volks of some sort) w/285 RE71R z1 FUCA Front bar Berk HFC Exhaust something to stay below 100db lol z1 2 Piece Rotors Penske 7500DA 1000lbs front/896lbs rear springs. Change as necessary OS Giken Race seat of some sort. New SCCA rule Race Seat + mounting equipment must weigh 35lbs. Spoke with a couple of veteran and they recommend tires, suspension and differential as the 3 must haves. |
I am doing a slow ghetto build. Trying to be ready for 2019.
Currently I have Wheels: 18x10.5 +25 wheels. 20mm spacers in the rear. 275/35/18 RE71R Suspension: SPC (front and rear) camber arms and toe bolts (Old style front arms) Eibach front bar 3011 Koni double adjustables Megan Hi/Low spring perch Diff: OS Giken Power: Kinetix HFC ISR Y-Pipe and Single exit exhaust MAF Tubes and K&N Filter I want to add these sometime in the future: Z1 2 piece rotors Z1 Intake Poly subframe bushings Lightweight battery Going to try to skip the header, since it seems like a PITA. Hopefully, the 12+ coolant/oil heat exchanger is sufficient for oil cooling. |

Right now is 900 all around, I tried it on 1100/700 and the car was miserable. It will probably change around.

Also, did you run that without a front sway bar? |
