You guys. It worked. I'm so happy. I will put a more detailed write up in my build thread but we have one more legal option for upper control arms.

I will put a more detailed write up in my build thread but we have one more legal option for upper control arms. With the right parts you might be able convert spl arms as well. PXL_20210319_222049350 by brendan sobers, on Flickr |

First event on the new tires. Photos showed I can go a bit lower than I had at the car. Also made some other tweaks to the suspension for the next time out. Grip is silly. This is from a practice event with a local club. I would have had ftd for my class if my buddy didn't decide to cheat and run an old set of hoosiers.

Measured caster on the new arms, actually not as bad as I thought. +7.2 which is still way more than stock. I also went to -4 degrees of negative camber since I couldn't even get closer to locking up these tires and wanted some more clearance than I had at -3.5

Figured I owe you guys some 315 / 18x11 snapshots by now.
I'm running straight second places at local events so far, 2/3 with class-winning scratch times by decent gaps but this extra tire is picking up cones We'll see how it goes nationally at Finger Lakes. 20210419_152745.jpg

Forgestar apparently is having a material backorder, and so my wheels are expected until July, now. I might have to see if I can maybe get the +23 Enkei PF05's. |

No rubbing on the inside. Minor rubbing on the outside fender tabs under significant bumps

After four agonizing months, I finally got my F14s. I went with +24, but after mounting them on, I'm convinced I could have gone with +26 with these wheels to move everything even closer to the steering knuckle.
This is the first time my car is on Yokes. I'm hoping it can make me love racing this car, again. |

I tried to find you up at Packwood for the Champ Tour to chat about Zs but didn't find the time. I was up there with my blue 350z in STU. I think I saw you when I was packing up to leave but was ready to get on the road.
BTW, your Z looks great. My Nismo 370z is built STU lite with camber arms and Eibach springs for that look. I originally installed a Hotchkis front sway bar but that was terrible so I swapped it out for a Eibach bar and it actually turns now. Have fun with your Z. Steve |

Anyway, I ended up racing the on Saturday and Sunday this last weekend and am very happy with the results, finally being able to compete at the top of the region, again. The car felt great. It wasn't drastically different as it was previously on 275's and 285's with RE's, Rivals, and 660's. But, it just did everything better. Cornering grip was better. Braking was better. And what I felt was extremely important, I could actually be more aggressive on the throttle when accelerating out of corners. The only thing I'm kinda worried about is the shorter second gear with the 315's. It's perfect locally, but it might not be ideal when in Lincoln or Crows Landing. But I ended up with FTD and 2nd in PAX, 0.055 back from first with a low turnout (30ish) with a local club on Saturday, and then with top PAX and fastest run on street tires with NWR-SCCA on Sunday. These results got me excited, so I signed up for Nationals when I got home and purchased another set of Yokes. Vids for research purposes or whatever. I'm pretty sure my lens was smudgy. EDIT: Not sure why the videos previews aren't working but here are the direct links. Saturday Sunday Last edited by Zewerr; 07-26-2021 at 10:21 PM. |

I can only imagine how the 315s felt as I'm running the 295 Yokes on the 350z. Bryan actually drove the car a few weeks ago at Crows Landing and loved the grip from the 295s. With the 295/30/18s I'm at 70 mph in 2nd which is pretty darn perfect for most venues.
Look forward to chatting at Lincoln. |
