Also where are you getting the oversteer and have you tried lowering your rear tire temp?

Turn in immediately after or in the transition from braking is less sharp than with a sway bar. Not something I'm particularly concerned about tuning out, as I feel the trade off is worth it while I'm getting used to the car. Lots of high speed transition grip and and good grip and rotation on throttle at corner exit.

You're not wrong, but test time is often limited. Not off the table as I develop the car and my driving. I just don't want to be one of those guys blaming the car when fundamental driving technique is lacking.

I know you are limited in time and testing. Best bet is trying to find something that work for most areas.

Okay, I think what you are experiencing is pretty normal or at least close to what I experienced as well. I found that I had to start my braking a little earlier and smoothly apply pressure when trail braking and to ease out of the braking as well. It takes a little getting use too but as you stated the gains are worth it.

I'll give it a shot. The car is very confidence inspiring and it feels like it is in a spot I can grow into. I'll still make small changes within the rule-set but I think it is at a good stopping point as far as suspension goes.

I've got wheels ordered and then my goal will be to get as much weight out of the car as I can. When that's all done we add power.:driving:

So, anyone having issues with ABS freaking out? Instead of going ice mode like most cars seem to do when you get on the brakes too aggressively, mine decides to throw ABS codes and warning lights and shuts it off, allowing the wheels to lock up. Then, as you the car starts rolling again off the brakes, the lights go out and ABS is active, again. The codes it throws is C1115 (Wheel speed sensor input fault) with is really generic and just tells me that the ABS module just doesn't see wheel speed signals it expects to see and shuts ABS off. I honestly think it's something in the software and there's nothing physically wrong with the car. I've inspected my speed sensors to make sure they weren't dirty or had a lot of metal attached to them, which they don't. I'm wondering if my Z1 diff cover has anything to do with it, but the sensors seem to have a good air gap from the reluctor wheels, and also I think I had the same issue while I had the stock cover on, as well, but I could be wrong.

I've had the same issue happen on my SP car a few times. For me, it always seemed related to heat. The only difference is mine doesn't immediately go back to normal. It generally takes 10-15 minutes of "cool down" time with the car off before the fault clears. Best part is that while the ABS is faulted the car won't turn off like it should because it doesn't know the car is stopped. Only way to get the car to shutoff is to push and hold the off/on/start button.

I had something similar on a wet track day that I'm still trying to figure out.
ABS was freaking out going into corners and all my dash lights lit up for a second or so.
They'd then turn off, and also set traction control back on (traction control went from turned off, to default).
I then turned TC back off coming out of the corner and the same happened twice more.
On the third corner, the whole car shut off and wouldn't start back up again.

I've been thinking it's battery or alternator related and haven't tested yet, but seeing this thread, I'm wondering if it could've been related to confusing the ABS.

I'm almost starting to think it actually may be related to my Z1 diff cover. I thought it did it with the stock cover, but talking to one of my friends who co-drove with me the first day it happened, I already had my new diff and cover installed. So, now I'm wondering if the air gap on the rear sensors is too big. It's hard to get a dial indicator in there to see exactly what it is, but my eyeballs estimate it's somewhere between 1-1.5 mm on both of them. I cannot find any specs for the air gap, but think it should be less than 1 mm. Is anyone able to check the gap on their rear sensor with a stock diff cover?

My ProParts Konis are for sale, if anyone wants it. :D

I have the same diff cover (coincidentally?)

Car was fun while I had it, I just enjoy driving my brother E90 M3 more in STU trim and not worry about the ice mode issue. I took the parts off and sold the car.

I can bring some of these parts to Nationals if you guys are going. http://www.the370z.com/parts-sale-pr...s-partout.html

Packwood Tour was this weekend. It was the first national event in the car. I'll start off by saying how much I absolutely hate how quickly RE's heat cycle out. My first set of tires are only about 4 months old and maybe have about 50-60 runs on them, and they have fallen off so far. Anyway, brand new set was had for the tour and the car just came back to life.

Saturday started off with the car feeling absolutely great. Unfortunately, the course was fairly tight which would make it difficult to not be straight timed by classes like STR, or even STS. But I ended up with a .526 second lead going into day two.

Sunday went a little differently. My co-driver's first run went without an issue. My first run, however, got bad fuel starve. It's my first time having it. I knew it would happen at some point, but I went as low as 1/8 of a tank in the past without an issue. This time, it happened after a long right hand sweeper with just under 1/2 a tank. As my co-driver went on his second run (which he experienced fuel starve, as well), fuel was on it's way and I was able to add four gallons and finish the rest of our runs without an issue. This day, I ended up second fastest. But, I held on to the win. My first national win in my own car in quite a long time.

This weekend makes me really wish I was taking this car to nationals, this year. After winning last year in an STI, this car just feels waaaaaaaayyyyy better in sweepers, with a much less need to shift compared to the Subaru. It's hard to see this car not be better on the sweeper heavy courses in Lincoln.

Congrats on the win and nice driving. That is the knock on RE in the time attack world. They are real fast and fall off quickly. Good for a couple of 20 minute session for the real go fast guy and a couple of week at best for weekend warriors.

Zewerr 07-16-2019 01:15 AM

The RE drop off and lack of Pro contingency are the two reasons we switched to Nexens on the Subaru. I wish 285/19s were available with more tires. I may drop to 275s to try something else. Possibly the new Yokos.
