Starting An Autocross Event

Hi All,
I am located in a rural town in CA and I have a few buddies who I've been talking with about starting an autocross event at our local airport. We are on friendly terms with the airport management team and the local PD and the venue has plenty of space. Does anyone have experience with starting and/or running autocross events? I'd love to pick your brain about what it requires if you have a few minutes. TIA!

One word: Insurance

Until you and your buddies sort out that issue or at least have a fairly definitive direction and cost I wouldn't bother looking at anything else. All it would take is one serious incident to ruin you and your buddies life financially without having insurance for the event.

Go on sccaforums and maybe a localish event, talk to a president and see what’s best in your area
