Increasing Sidewall, will it affect performance?
So I plan on running a "drag setup" with just 18x10.5 in the rears with stock 19" Rays in the front, for the 18's I was planning on slapping some 295/40 Nitto's & wondering will the increase in the sidewall have an affect on the performance?
Curiousity since I couldn't find my answer anywhere. |
Performance or handling?

Performance overall or if it affects acceleration
|
Yep; it will actually bog out of the hole...305/35's in a Mickey Thompson Drag Radial is a good choice.
Just depends on your gearing & power. |
Looking at specs of both tires/ only about 1/2"...not a huge difference.
But if you're stock or mild bolt on's...it will make a difference. |
Yup just mild bolt-ons, I'll just get some tires 295-305/35 to avoid loss in performance, thanks for the help.

The bigger the Rims/Tyres,sure affect it's pick up.

You didn't really ask a question. lol :iagree: |
Okay here's the answer i should have put yesterday...
Greater sidewall height allows for more flexibility for launches 1/4 mile Greater sidewall height allows for more flex in the tread surface as well. Smaller sidewall height allows for more crisp steering response, as less material to "twist" between the wheel and road. 18" or 19" wheels for the 370z seem to fit nicely, assuming you have a good tire. |
