Middle TN Auto-X?
Looking at getting into Auto-X in middle TN. Anyone have any leads?

Tennessee Region SCCA
Not really as many in the immediate area anymore since the Super Speedway is closed. I'm looking at doing some autox for the first time next year as well. |
If you don't mind driving to northern AL, you could visit us in Huntsville. Twickenham Auto Club and TVR-SCCA put on a joint autocross.

East TN region also has AutoX happening most of the year. They recently lost one of their more ideal spots so the schedule is being redone. I used to be up in Knoxville before I moved down to Huntsville.

Here's video from the event on Saturday. I took 1st place in BS against a stacked class. Extremely close battle between Brian Johns and me - only .016 ahead. Also narrowly took the year end championship in BS in my local club.
:happydance: This video show two runs: 1) 50.433+1. Other than the chipped cone, this is how I intended to drive the course. 2) 51.166. This run was about equal according to my GPS data, except I had a large drift which was initiated by a little bumpiness @1:34 and by going ~2 mph too fast. The drift cost me 0.6 seconds. The GPS data is shown at the end of the video. https://youtu.be/zondT2ojHrA |
Very nice runs. I had an old friend surprise me by begin in town so I wasn't able to come by. I did learn of some of the local hangouts. PM me if you want to try and meet up sometime. I'd like to learn more about cone hunting. Haven't been before.

zpower86, do they fine you time penalties for drifting??

No, but if you went out and purposely drifted the course, that would be frowned upon and you'd be asked not to. It's pretty easy to tell the difference between the back end stepping out here and there vs a drift run. Your line will be way off to set up and the speed will be much lower than a fast competitive run... |
Shenanigans southern and coastal regions run year-round. To avoid road salt, I'm afforded May to October. 5 months. I wish the SCCA would appropriately normalize club schedules.
