Default AT not downshifting when hot?

So me and some buddies hit the track for the first time yesterday at High Plains Raceway (CO). What a buzz! Anyway, one was driving the 370Z I sold him this year and after a couple hot laps sometimes it wouldn't downshift (on paddles) unless he clicked it a couple times (or when the car allowed it really). Anyone know why? His oil temps were very hot @260F, was the car protecting the tranny by not allowing downshifts on a hot tranny? That same lap coming to the finish the car actually pulled power, not quite limp mode, but clearly wasn't happy. Also does anyone know if the tranny temp can be seen in Torque? He's gonna get an oil cooler before next time too.

Its sounds to me the Z had a brain fart if it wasn't in limp mode.

A simple restart of the car would've corrected the paddles not wanting to work.

Thats personally happened to me once while exiting the freeway and not happened again.

For the track?

You definitely have to run an oil cooler and if a 7AT? A cooler wouldn't hurt but the fact it's a sealed system just makes it more of a pain because if it's not done right?

bye bye trans.
