Tires -- narrow RE11 OR wide Pilot Super Sport?

This is a competitor policed sport - there is no technical inspection you have to "pass". So the answer is probably not, especially at a local event, or anywhere where you aren't keeping someone from a trophy. But it's not technically legal.

I'm going to the Match Tour at the national corvette museum this weekend, but I know at least one of the competitors and he'll be hard to beat. He's running ZII and others will probably have RE71 and such. Having said that, I'm in it to win it if I can.

Straight from the 2015 Solo rulebook. But as it's already been said, most people don't care unless you're actually competitive.

I got these Advan Racing GT 18" (white) (9" all-around) wheels coming in June (early June they said), I'm going with 275/35/18, but not 100% sold on which tires to go with (I might track the car 70/80% chance I will this year) and want to be confident in the most important component of the car, the tires.

Should I go with the Rival-S or the Re-11 ? Price is close so that doesn't really matter.

What you guys recommend wear/grip wise?

Feedback much appreciated.

PS: I don't mean to hi-jack the thread just thought it is a good place to ask.

I'm planning to get wheels/tires solely for autox soon. I'm leaning towards the RE-71R. But if you're going to daily drive with them, then you might want something different -- I've heard they wear more.

This brings up another question on TIRE SIZE. On stock width wheels (to stay in B Street class), what size is generally recommended for Autox? The car could use some extra grip in the front for sure, but I don't want to change the feel (e.g getting mushy) and I don't want the tires to bulge over the rim much because that doesn't look good. So A, B or C?

275 square is what I'd recommend amongst those choices.

If you were considering the BFG the 275 front 315 rear would be a choice but the car would probably push like crazy...

Just a warning, I ran the rival 285 all around at 39 psi. In about 25 runs the front corners where shredded. I'm waiting on tirerack who just picked the tires up for inspection to see what they say but I don't think our cars stock have enough camber for that tire

I'm on 275 RE-71R square right now. Looking forward to how they react at the Match Tour this weekend. I've run 285 square twice with RE-11s and R-S3s. 285s are pretty happy on the front 9in, and the rear 10in is obviously no problem. In between those two tire options, I ran 295 square Rivals. 295 up front was pretty fat, and with no camber, killed the shoulders after just one Match Tour at Wilmington. I'm interested to see how the Rival-S fairs for others.

Yes, absolutely at a National event. You must run stock width, so with Sport Pkg that's 9in front, 10in rear. Base model wheels do not qualify. Your only option is to run the Sport 19's, or use the +/-1in diameter rule and get some 18x9s and 18x10s. Otherwise you're going straight to ASP and better find some Hoosiers real quick.

I put my stock wheels back on with the pilot super sports and tested it tonight. They felt pretty grippy compared to what I was expecting. I think they actually would out corner the re11 since the PSS's are new. The re11s have some highway miles--not sure if that could affect anything. So for this weekend I'll be running the PSS's. I guess I'll see you there. Are you running in street?

Handling-wise, is there benefit to running a smaller sidewall only in the front so the car points downward some?

I'll find you in the morning in BS. We run in the 1st heat (street sweepers...uugh). There's no real advantage to smaller sidewalls....just have to play with pressures and make it happy.
