Buyer/ Seller feedback
If this has already been talked about then I can't find it. If it has and someone could link it that would be awesome. Would it be possible to add some sort of buyer seller feed back kind of like what ebay has? Some of the other forums that I am a part of has it. Or is something like that really not needed? Just wondering.

It's been mentioned before. Mods didn't comment on it. To time consuming to incorporate and implement I'm sure.
I judge people by there post count, activity, and when they became a member.

IMO, it would be a nice feature, but I'm not really sure that it's needed.

Or what I do is, whenever I sell things here, I link them to another forum that has the iTrader rating implemented to show them my feedback score.

It's kind of a chance you take but so far it seems like everyone that isn't an honest seller gets reported on the sticky. And if not, the person they screwed over chimes in.

Hey guys, Just to let everyone know, We hear you and without getting deep in the mud
I'm giving you a small excerp from a conversation I had about this idea and Ak can elaborate more if need be? (Ak) THE biggest issue I had against it is that it weakens the vbulletin software. Well every single modification actually weakens the vb software a little bit. OEM form of the vb is the strongest version (hence I try to keep this forum software as original as possible). This Itrader software weakens the vb software Again Ak can elaborate more if need be, But thats the major issue I can't comment any further, and hope that answers most everyones question. If Ak finds a way of implementing this like for example repeated bad transactions that it just makes it too unsafe to buy or sell in the classifieds? Then I'd see a change in AK's stance, But the statistics are sooo low NOW that it's not of a major issue here so far. Right now members are doing a good job of looking after each other as a good community should be, and we do our best to keep things trouble free. But it's ultimately up to the buyer and seller to do their homework and use some common sense about who they buy and sell parts from. |

Here's a thought, you the buyer could ask the seller to post said product on eBay and buy it that way. Kinda like using the For Sale section to post/advertise it, then when it comes to actually paying for it, the seller puts it on eBay and allowing the buyer to "buy it now" on eBay, and in that way, the buyer is almost always safe.
I do agree, for the most part, its pretty good right now. I do know this though, me personally, before I send a big amount of cash for something, I will do all it takes to have the transaction take place on eBay.

The simplest solution I have found is don't accept/send money via PayPal as a gift if you are concerned. Sending money as a gift via PayPal does not afford you the same protections, hence the 3% PP fee.
It might be a hassle if you get scammed, but you have a much better chance of getting your money refunded. You are basically SOL when you use the gift method.

An easy idea would be to create a subsection called "For sale - feedback" where each registered seller can have their own:
[Seller name] feeback post where users can leave their feedback. This section (watched by moderators) would be easily searchable and browsable by username. What buyers are interested in are the most recent feedbacks and those can be found from "last page" backwards. Also, "good" sellers could link that post in their signature and/or encourage for feedback after a transaction there. This, like the eBay feedback mechanism, would lead buyers to leave a feedback and sellers to care about offering a good service. It would take a while for people to get accustomed to the idea but it is something that can benefit both sellers and buyers.

Honestly, I think we've KINDA got it down, forum members watch one another's backs, yes, there are dumb transactions being made, but 99.999% of the time, the offers are too good to be true and the buyers jump the gun and are doing something dumb, or not being cautious enough... And I hope I can be an example of... Oh, Andrew is selling a Nismo suspension without pics? Meh, a) he's a premium member and AK probably has all his info, and B) Andrew ain't going to ruin his reputation of having 50+ purchases and sales under his belt for a few hundred bucks, AND I'll at least cover my own āss a bit anyways and use PayPal without the gift feature (Although I just got gifted money, lol. I'm still not screwing anyone for $250)
